After sticking pennies into the luck jar for the past few years, it seems my luck ran out.

Dropped the bike on the driveway.

Turns out, the bars protecting the engine anyway were rotted through, and I need a vice and a pair of pliers to get the mirror back into the holder.

I love ER5s. They just don't break.

Gutting MaliA.

On first read i thought you said you'd dropped it on the motorway, so I'm glad you're OK at least.

You've said before you don't really look after your bike very well. Maybe now's the time to start doing so?

I'm fairly sure remembering to put the sidestand down does not qualify as "maintenance" .

Sorry, I read 'rotting' and assumed it was due to neglect.

Oh, them. They did their job by collapsing, and preventing whatever lives behind the silver thing from hitting the floor. I kicked the ones on the other side and they were fine. It's not a safety feature, more a "save more expensive damage" feature. Live galvanizing. Or taking taxis when you are pissed, rather than driving home.

Also, hefting a motorbike up form the floor is a lot harder than I thought.

:this: I came off mine on some ice once, and caught it as it fell, not a good plan.
