Looks fucking awesome. But no way I'm getting a DSi when I could get a iPod Touch instead. Though my DS is broken....... FUCK.

It's a total Eye-Toy rip off though but I don't care.

WarioWare is a fucking superb series. The original game for the GBA is one of the few games I would call 'perfect' and give the super rare S-rank to. If I was to offer any game that I would still be playing in 20 years it would be the GBA warioware and/or Rhythm Tengoku.

WarioWare DS - isn't that good really. I huge shame. B rank.

WarioWare Twisted however is almost as good as the first. It's brilliant, and it's shocking that the Wii hasn't reach the heights of motion sensing that I suspected from Playing Twisted. A rank.

WarioWare Smooth Moves - I've just got it so I can't really say. Ace so far.

That does look good. My initial reaction was "no way", but after spending many many hours on Disgaea I'm thinking that, quite apart from new camera hilarity, slightly bigger screens might be a very good thing.

But I'd like a swanky red one or something, so I'll perhaps wait a smidge and see if they release lovely colours overseas for me to import.

I'll wait for them to reduce the price to the £100 it should be in the first place.

(And probably a lot further since the fucker is still region locked)

Well, that's debatable. Seeing as how Japanese sales and EU/US preorders are massive, I'd suggest Nintendo have the price point spot on; clearly, many people are prepared to pay these prices. Does anyone know how the $ price compares to that of the DS, and how much of this £150 price point is because of weak Sterling?

I wonder if perhaps part of the impetus to introduce a new model was so they could bump the RRP of a hot product by a few points.

Do you like it enough to buy the same machine you already own again but for 50% more though?

Probably no need though. I've just read a reddit comment by someone who has played it and he says that you can play every game in about 10 minutes. I know that WW isn't about the actual amount of time that the game takes to play sequentially, but that does seem tiny.

I don't like the way they changed the timing between GBA and (Smooth Moves / Touched): the games in SM/T end as soon as you've completed the goal, which really screws up my rhythm. They should have kept it like in the GBA version where all the games strictly follow the music. :(

And why haven't they made an 'arrange' mode where you can get rid of games you don't like (like the damned 'Mark Page X' game from the GBA).

I didn't even have to look at the poster's name to se it was you, D :) (and not 50% more in euroland, you should have joined)

but anyway, i was referring to the first here, still the best game. Twisted for me was ruined that every stage focussed on one method (scribbling or tapping etc), Touched was nice, but less portable (soplayed it less), and i cannot really get to grips with smooth moves...

no dsi for me until it gets cheaper or 'the killer app' will be released, but i am patient, my DS is now so perfect, since i spent so much time perfecting my flashcard..

Well, despite pricing misgivings, the DSi has outsold everything ever. 92,000 units sold in two days.

Edit -- From the Eurogamer hardware review of the DSi:

Quote:
If you can see a pattern emerging, it crystallises further beneath the DSi's slender bonnet, where CPU speed doubles from 67MHz to 133MHz, there's 16MB RAM (four times as much as the DS or DS Lite), 256MB of internal flash memory for the first time, and enhanced Wi-Fi support (WPA and WPA2 security, most notably).

I didn't know they'd upgraded the core unit specs so significantly.

Not exactly a good one for playing on the bus, then?

It's slightly worrying that they have, are the DS lites days numbered?

Nah, in the same way that Nintendo didn't almost immediately mothball the GBA once the DS was out.

Oh.

I'd guess, at least for a while, that only the downloaded games will use the extra muscle. Anyone writing a cartridge-only game for the DSi would be throwing away hundreds of millions of potential customers.

They are keeping the DSlite on sale for £99.99, at least for now. I think I remember seeing the DS alongside the DSlite for six months, at least.

Valid point there. A handheld you have to lay down on a flat surface and barely touch a lot of the time makes it no better than a laptop, surely?

Sure they are, but I think people are kidding themselves if they think the DS will still be a viable dev platform for anything but Disney shovelware in six months' time.

I did wonder why a recent advert (possibly for GTA: Ching Chong Warz) said 'available now for DS Lite and DSi', suggesting that yes, it's a new system that's backwards compatible.

Another new DS Warioware --Made in Ore -- has just been released in Japan, and it's a tool for creating and sharing original microgames! Hurray! This is the first I've heard of it and I'm a bit excited.

Homemade microgame involving a willy.
