http://premson.net/sounds.htmSome particularly stunning examples of holophonic sounds — where two channels of sound, delivered over headphones, are carefully mastered to fool your ears into hearing them as coming all around. As the first track explains very well, these are made by the deceptively simple technique of making a dummy head out of resin and placing microphones in the dummy’s ears to replicate how you would hear the sounds if you were present in the recording study.
Note that the major drawback of this technique is they only work when your head is still. If you turn your head whilst listening to it, the sound moves as your head turns even though real sounds would stay fixed. Shaking your head whilst listening to these is a good way to totally confuse your brain.
Remember you need headphones, these won't work over speakers. The first two of the four samples are the most impressive.
