In this dream I was watching TV when all of a sudden there was an advert for a film on the screen!

The film was called: "Pink Panther 2" It had Steve Martin reprising his role where he pissed all over Peter Sellers Grave in "The Pink Panther" The advert looked so bad that I knew it was a nightmare straight away.

What was his last good film? It was before Bowfinger, that's for sure.
Probably Father of the Bride II, or Leap of Faith maybe.

Funny he and Eddie Murphy got crap at around the same time.

L.A. Story is stupidly good. I love that film to bits.

Edit: I loved it before going to LA, then I loved it even more after having been.

He was good in 30 Rock a couple of weeks ago. But then 30 Rock turns Alec Baldwin into the King Of Hilarity, so I'm not sure you can read anything into that.

A good point, I was thinking of films where I could see him.

What! Beverly Hills Cop is a classic! 48 Hours too! (was trading places him or was that Pryor?)

I might have to watch them again then. I remember finding his standup hilarious when I was about ten or whatever I'd have been at the time, now it makes my teeth hurt.

30 Rock is one of the best comedy shows of all time. I'm sure that history will prove that right.

LA Story used to be in my Top Five Films, but I then didn't see it for years and years, and since Steve Martin got shit I have always worried that it might have been rubbish all along. As such, I have never watched the DVD of it that I have owned for years...

First 2 seasons were brilliant, but now they are using josh alot less, and it seems more about the cameos then anything else in the 3rd season.
Hopefully the quality wont go down over this season.

£12.78 for the entire first season of 30 Rock (Amazon). I take it that you would recommend me buying this?

You should, yes. The first episode left me a bit cold, from the second one onwards I was giggling like a loon.

And re: original post - it's like someone looked at the Peter Sellers original and said "Well, that's quite good, but wouldn't it be better with a bit less genius?"

Actually, it appears you can get the entire first series of 20ish episodes for under a tenner (9.99) at HMV's online store.

YOINK!

Go on, do it. Take that one for the team - I too have it as a top favourite film somewhere in the list I've never made, but do wonder if it should be filed under "guilty pleasures". Some great lines, though, and his wife's quote "why would I when I'm completely happy the way things are?" is still something that runs through my head, though I've never managed to deliver it with the necessary insouciance. Or to someone who remembers it, for that matter.

It's lucky I'm happy with my own company, really.

I have images turned off at work. I can't wait to go home and see what the fuss is all about.
