Not quite proven, it is proven. The "Stig" driving the Renault F1 car was one of the Renault test drivers, as was the Toyota F1 indoors driving by one of the Toyota testers. The snowmobile down the ski jump was a Swedish snowmobile cross driver called Dan Lang.

Ben Collins has been in normal attire for many bits of TG, such as the people carrier races and racing an Evo and a Wildcat against some kid on a skateboard.

I knew this as well - it's him and some rally driver. The first one was Damon Hill, expensively. They had to 'kill him off' rather than replace him as the rally driver who took over was a different height.

There are now several Stigs. The main one is presumably that guy but they have some others they use from time to time. In addition some manufacturers insist on providing their own drivers, who are then kitted out at the Stig.
