We went with Family (I know them from when I've done work for them many years ago), but they've performed pretty shitly. £250 initial amount is now £150. The return of the capital investment isn't guaranteed.

If you stick it in a savings account, and not a trust, when the child goes mental and starts robbing cars, you can make sure he does not get the cash, but with a trust he can.

I wouldn't be surprised if just sending it to markg for him to "invest" gives you a better return over the next couple of years than a proper one invested in the stock market and company bonds.

You can't invest the £250 voucher from the government in anything other than a CTF though.

Don't bury it under a tree! Your gold bush will never grow with that sort of competition. You need a well composted, well drained area with partial shade, ideally on a south facing slope. Remember to remove dead flower heads in autumn, and feed with a general liquid fertilizer.

Actually we found an NSI account that was set up with I was a baby and had about 60 quid in it. In the intervening 30 years it has spiraled to about 600 quid all thanks to high interest rates in the late 80's. Thanks Mrs T!
