Hello!
I know FOR A FACT that there is a contingent of the BeeX/WoS StewieLee+RichieHerrers fans here, so here is some EXCLUSIVE BEHIND THE SCENES INFO about the show. Infact every time I've been to something 'big' in london, a couple of people here have also been too*, so did anyone else go?
You see, I'm just back from watching Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle being filmed.
Going to see shows being filmed is awesome because it is free. Back in the dawn of time we tried to see the pilot being filmed, but it filled up before we got in. So we got turned away. But as a sorry note the TV peeps gave us priority access for another show. Somehow we managed to turn down all the subsequent SHIT they offered us (ALAN TITCHMARSH ANYONE?).
So a good 18 months later (i think) we still had the priority tickets for the actual filming. Due to a little mix up, only a few of us went to this show, and the rest of my mates are going tomorrow, but I can give you an EXCLUSIVE REVIEW of THREE EPISODES!
* cough cough *
Firstly, lower your expectations slightly. If you have seen Lee live recently or bought his excellent
Gofaststripe DVDs then you need to that he has had to comprise a little to get on TV. You can't make gaping anus jokes on BBC 2 it seems. But it was really really damn good.
NEVERTHELESS, it was excellent. Slightly shakey first episode we saw (but obviously better than the rest of the pap you get on tv) followed by some Really. Good. Shit.
It's just pure stand up.
No TV gimmicks, just 25mins or so of stand up. In a old fashion club like place. We all sat round tables like at an award ceramony or something. We had to move though, because we sat next to woman originally who was mental. To the extent that I was actually rude to her, which is unprecedented for me.
I'm really quite excited by it being on tv. It is
worthy.
Also, as it will be on iplayer, you can all play, find the Lave.
Stewie Lee on the TV.
* Oh the drummers boobies!
