Given unlimited money, how much do you realistically think you could spend per day, consistently?

I'll lay some ground rules down in that you can't have more than one of a particular type of car (so you couldn't have two Ferrari 360s but you could have a 360 and an F40), can't have more than one house in the same postcode area (so two houses in SY is not allowed but one in SY and one in ST is just dandy).

It has to be spending and not investing money, so you can't "spend" £5,000 a day buying stocks and shares.

So, what would you buy, how much would you spend, and how long could you carry on such a spending spree for before it got boring?

Probably about 40 quid a day.

When Mrs C and I were both earning and living in London, we never manged to spend anywhere near what we earned. I guess I'm too boring to come up with ways of spending extra money, and too much of an inherent skinflint not to buy stuff as cheaply as possible.

But as we enjoyed ourselves I think we did okay. I would guess we averaged about £40 to £50 a day? We ate out a lot.

With unlimited money I guess the only addition to that lifestyle would be buying a reasonable sized country house (no more than 4 bedrooms, as I don't want to have to employ a cleaner or a permanent builder for repairs) with 10 to 20 acres of land.

It sounds easy, but your options would always be shrinking. I'll give it a go though if you lot fancy putting money in my kitty ( )

I really would struggle to spend vast quantities of money. It would be tedious. All I want is a nice house with a few acres, and to not have to work. Is that too much to ask? IS IT?

My quest for 'money' ends when I've paid off the mortgage. All I'd really want it for then is to cover bills and general expenses. Even with unlimited cash I have so few material wants I doubt I'd be capable of indulging myself to any great extent. I'd keep my car, for instance. I have no need of expense branded cars.

I could quite happily spend vast sums of money on fine food and entertainment.

I'm terribly materialistic, so could probably buy a hell of a lot before I got bored.

My calculations suggest I only need an entertainment budget of 14600 per annum.

I'd probably build myself an awesome home gym, to save me having to drive to the other one.

You could save money, by cancelling the membership, cycling there, and then cycling home again, without going in.

Or save even more money by eating fewer Star Bars and negating the need for gyming.

Actually our initial 1 year contract with the gym (we took out 12 months to get 1 month free) is over at the end of February, and I plan to haggle their bollocks off for a lower subscription rate. It's one of those 'not a fixed price' gyms, so if I moan that I can no longer afford it, they should knock some decent amount off to make me stay. It helps they've got a competitor's gym about 100ft from their building.

After Dr. A sent me 15 star bars in the post, I ate them all and haven't had another since. I won't be having another one for quite some time.

As I utterly hate cooking I would spend a lot of eating out or on takeaways. Other than that, my major outgoing is a massive book habit so much of my fortune would be spent on a never-ending pile of books that need finishing.

Shit yeah, I'd buy lots of books and takeaways too. Then I'd have to build myself a gym and get a really expensive bike to make sure I didn't turn into a blimp.

I don't currently spend too much on stuff. Given unlimited monies, this would change. There is SO much to do, think of all the whores holidays you could have, you could buy a PS3 and have it sit there doing nothing, all that nice food and fine wines, my god I would splurge the lot of it. on whores.

Yep, instead of buying bottles of wine for £5-10 each, I'd be buying ones that cost hundreds of pounds.

I'd buy all the Toyota Celicas in the UK, and drive them to GazChaps house, and crush them with my digger.

I'd buy a ferrari, seal the doors shut, and park it at a max power meet. Then, I'd get my petrol tanker, and use it to fill the car with petrol. And set fire to it, with the insurance certificate.

I rarely drink wine, and I can (on the occasion I get to) tell the difference between a £5 bottle and a £15 bottle, but mainly because spending more gets you access to more interesting wines, not necessarily because of the quality of the wine itself.

For example, the wines I like to drink tend to be more obscure varieties - Viognier, Pinotage, Gewurztraminer and the like - which don't tend to be available in a £4 vintage.

I anticpate the money will start rolling in any time now. Any time. Just watch.
