The remarkable thing is that she's done that computer-voice for so long, they can probably use it for anything in the show for years to come. Or Stephen Hawking can nick it now that it looks like the franchise has gone tits up.

Anyway, rest-in-peace Majel. I recall you annoying die-hard* Star Trek fans by appearing in Babylon 5** as an unexcitable prophetess, you were full of wacky visions of apocalypse and fat-lad becoming Emperor before being hit by a flying bottle. It was good.

* "Traitor!" etc.

**I loved this when I was 16, I daren't watch it again in case it was actually a bit rubbish.

It wasn't. Watch it! The stories and writing are excellent, the effects are ground breaking and the sets and costumes are *mumble mumble*

I never liked Majel Barrett (who went by Roddenbury only when she needed his name for credibility, for things like, say, Earth: Final Conflict) and always seemed overly keen to get her stupid fucking face and fingers into every aspect of Star Trek, much to its detriment, I reckon.

But yeah, tragic news...

Hmm, well she did a good computer voice. Of course the 'Troi's Mum' episodes were completely terrible. You sometimes wonder why when sci-fi tries to do comedy, they get sci-fi writers to do it, instead of say, poaching the team behind Frasier or something for the day. Clods. It doesn't help that despite comely appearance Troi was about as interesting as a potato. And the 'wacky' Luxwana character was like nails on blackboard.

I thought she was okay in that B5 one though.

Had no idea she did that with the Roddenberry name for shite like Earth: Final Boredom though.
