Birdseye also did a version of Artic Roll in slices coated in chocolate but I'll be damned if I can remember what they were called.

During the '80s the dessert was so popular that more than 25 miles of Arctic Roll were sold per month.

I'm now imagining an old bloke measuring each and every arctic roll as it comes off the production line.

"hold everything! this arctic roll is two-eights short! how will we make 25 miles this month now!?"

Shush. I'm busy visualizing the rolls coming out of the machine in a huge, continuous piece like something out of a Jacques Tati film.

Supermarkets sell own brand versions. I've had one from Morrisons. It was foul.

I think Vienetta is foul... it was just flavourless coldness.

Agreed. I never really understood Arctic Roll either - Icecream and cold sponge. Weird combination.

Is that The Gaywood at the end of your last sentence? It appears to be a little man trapped in a valley.

Swiss roll is still half baked. The sponge bit not the icecream.

Would've been funnier if you'd put 'I'll ask her', rather than insulting our intelligence and spelling out the joke for us.

You need defrosting time. The sponge should be at around room temperature, the ice cream melted pleasingly into it.
