As some of you know, I run iPhoneTiny.com and I've been mulling over creating a 'proper' iPhone website, centred around gaming reviews. There are a few similar sites out there, but they all fall short for me in some way (Touch Arcade's reviews are dreadful, most other sites are hampered by strict word counts and/or lack of focus), and I'd also like to create something with the 'voice' from the likes of Zzap! and AP.

However, one thing I'm stumped on is a name. Obvious domains are obviously long gone (iphonegaming.com and so on), and so I was wondering whether anyone here had any (sensible) names for a site that could be added to 'the list'.

Iphoneaplenty.com
Touchuptojump.com
iphonearcade.com (nb I haven't checked if any of these are free)

and perhaps the best:

touchmetouchmeiphonetofeelyourgamingyourgamingnexttomine.com

Fix.

Seriously, Craig, I've been trying to think of a decent name for months and have come up with nothng that hasn't either been a) shit or b) already taken. I'm thinking an 'off-the-wall' name like Kotaku might work, because - as you say - the obvious ones are all gone.

Inspired! But perhaps a tad long.

iPhoneArcade's gone, by the way, as has iblast, which I rather liked. TouchGaming's owned by the Touch Arcade lot, and iTouchGaming's too similar.

I've got a couple of semi-good ideas, and will probably register them tonight. One's a bit long and 'Imagine', and the other's still three syllables, but kinda works. Any more ideas would be welcome, though.

I'd be OK, as long as I also registered granellator, grannelator and, oddly, branwellator.

Having just scored 415 on the excellent and worryingly addictive Flight Control, I'm seriously* considering craigfuckingrocksatflightcontrol.com

Ah, sorry. RTS and iPhoneTiny don't follow anyone, and CraigGrannel doesn't follow that many at the mo (this might change when Tweetie comes out for Mac OS X—currently, I'm using Blogo, which has a fairly small tweet limit in its viewer). I regularly check and respond to @replies though.

Sounds good - I was trying to think of something that went for the slidey touchy side, as that covers the fact that they're iphone and ipod touch games, and would allow you to expand to other touchy platforms if so motivated. But it sounds like you're there.

No need to apologise, I don't mind in the slightest. I tend to use DMs for one-to-one communication and @replies where more than one person might like to read it, that way my Twitter homepage isn't too cluttered with chat stuff.

I didn't know @atebits was doing a Tweetie desktop release. That could be very good indeed.

You know your post doesn't show up a different colour to them if you put @atebits, right?

Haha yeah I know. It's lazy shorthand because I couldn't be arsed to look up the author's real name and I bet Craig knows who I meant.

I have no suggestions though, sorry.

(Nice to hear a proper iPhone review site may be on the way, all the ones I've managed to find are fucking awful.)

Or something else mixing Phone with Origami (Phoneagami, hell even iOrigami.co.uk isn't taken)

Because I think Origami catches the ethos of gaming and gives your site a percived viewpoint and editorial feel, whereas sounding like iPhoneGaming just sounds cold, spammy and unopinionated.

One of the domains I was considering was totaliphonegaming.com, but that sounded like something from Imagine, and I also didn't want to restrict the name to iPhone rather than iPhone and iPod touch.

Oddly enough, there seems to be one decent iPhone gaming site out there, and it does most of what I was thinking of: http://www.slidetoplay.com/.

A bit lacking in personality at times, but it's a lot more 'there' than most of its competition.

http://www.i-guide.tel, http://www.i-guide.net and a few other domain variations are available

If you like the 'what you do with your fingers' thing, then, in a similar vein, the domain http://www.i-glide.tel is available, as are most i-glide domains.
