I spent 30 minutes telling my very European office how bloody great the original show was to utter blank stares at why watching some random land a 747 at Hong Kong could be good tv.

This will bring back the viewers to ITV. Unless they muck it up royally. Which they probably will.

As long as they don't bring back Gordon Burns' haircut. It made me feel sick at the time, and 15 years on it looks even worse.

Doesn't Gordon Burns still sport the same 'do' on North West Tonight?

God, he's crap on that. Autocue defeats him every night.

I have never actually seen the Krypton Factor.

I do however remember the stupendously funny skit on Lee & Herring's 'Lionel Nimrod's Mysterious World'* where Gordon Burns (played by Armando Iannucci) was revealed to be from the planet Krypton, and insisted on competing in every game, easily winning them all with his superpowers. In his considered opinion this repeat tea-time TV win was ample enough evidence of why he should rule over puny mortals.

*May not be accurate title. Something like that.

If we could somehow marry the Krypton Factor with Big Brother contestants and immediate death for failure to complete puzzles, that would be awesome.

If we're going to bring back an 80s TV show beginning with "K" (and it's their turn, really), Kickstart was better. Especially the theme tune.

If Gordon Burns is to present Krypton Factor 3.0, I do hope they employ some sort of post-production filter on him. In general, I'm vehemently opposed to any kind of jibe about someone's physical appearance (really, it's a cunts trick, especially on the internet. If the person making that comment looked like Brad sodding Pitt, they wouldn't be spending their time on internet fora, and should generally shut up), but now that my local TV news is once again North-West Tonight after a ten year break, I can't help but find his newly leathery skin inexplicably alarming. Maybe it's just because it provides a stark reminder of the passing of time and how we're all edging inexorably closer to the eternal blackness of death, maybe not. Either way it leaves me ruing the day I bought a Freeview box with HDMI upscaling.

I have a horrible feeling this will be used as yet another vehicle for Vernon Kay. :'(

Fingers crossed for the return of Gordon Burns, though. And the legendary 'flight simulator' round. :)

Nah, it's all interlecktuel innit? They'll probably get one of their academic heavyweights on the phone. And after Melvyn and Sir Trevor tell them to bugger off, then it'll be Vernon.

Well no, it's ITV. It'll be all flashing lights and screaming audiences and things.

And there'll be at least one round where the pubic have to vote on something.

That's... actually a decent idea. She might fit the show quite well, if they stick to the original formula.

But my money is still on Vernon. And a series of 'celebrity' editions. >:(

One of the stations on Freeview was showing them back to back with Bullseye about a year ago. Can't remember who it was though. I know Challange show it on Sky and the station I was watching almost certainly had Challange involvement.

Anyhoo, as someone who grew up watching the glorious Art-Of-Noise-soundtracked years of this show as a kid, I honestly hope to ETERNALISM that they don't fuck this up. Hopefully having this Ben Shephard guy will work - I don't know if his resumé has been all that impressive though?

I think he hosts or hosted GMTV. He can be very grown up and inoffensive, but when he was hosting 'The Xtra Factor' he was hilarious, and incredibly sarcastic without coming across as a dick. I dunno, he amused me so I have high hopes.

Overall I thought it was pretty good if a bit rushed

But there is no flight simulator in this series :'(

Aw, I'm cute. Look at me there, back in September, young and full of hope.

There's so much I wish I could tell you, September-me, and yet I cannot. Namely not to have created this thread on the grounds that the new series is a big bag of non-original-theme-music poo.

I did download this in the end, and...eurgh.

Made on a budget of 50p (the woman couldn't even open the door without it looking rickety), no flight-sim level, stupid "cool" WAAAP WAAAP alarm systems and gimmicky heartrate thing, stupid assault course with stupid editing.

And stupid GMTV man with his stupid face.

In summary, then; stupid.

The assault course was dead weird. Why have them going in two heats, rather than all at once? Then again, it's not like the rest of the thing worked that well. One series and dead again, I suspect.

The assault course edit was horrible. The set was horrible. The awooga sirens as they went into a small box on set and looked at a TV for a minute or two was horrible. The presenter was horrible. The wonky eyed girl was lovely.
