Hurrah!

I've just booked my annual leave. I'd only used two days so far, since April, cunningly saving everything but a few Christmas days for March, when I shall spend two and a half weeks in Oregon with my yankee friends. This will be twice as long as last time. America again! Yay!

Do you guys and gals usually hoard your days off until the end? Or dribble them throughout the year? Do you like to save them for big holidays, or little extended weekend breaks?

WHAT ARE YOUR HOLIDAY HABITS?

Where do you spend 'em? When do you take 'em? What measures do you take to protect against hitmen organised by seemingly innocently inquisitive forum members?

Me, I usually take two weeks round Christmas to spend with family and do the traditional New Years week's holiday up in a hilly district, walking and freezing and drinking. I aim for one big America break a year now though, as I'm embarassingly in love with the state of Oregon and its microbreweries.

Poll time!

Your options don't apply, because there is only one criteria that I use to gauge when to take holiday - other people's kids must be at school. That rules out Christmas, Summer and Diwahli, and I also like taking them in small chunks.

I have to fill out a poll as 'others'. I feel totally uncatered for in your demographic breakdown and wish to register my severe discontent.

This is why I don't normally do polls.

Right! All options now catered for! Anyone who suggests another one will receive a crossbow bolt through the mouth. Tch, honestly - having to juggle poll creation with complimenting little tyke's colour-ins of witches and pumpkins, it ain't easy y'know!

Um... could you all click again... pwease? Blame Craster not me!

I love Christmas so I save a few extra days for then (my firm shuts for a week anyway), and the rest of the year I just take a few days here and there. I'm not bothered about going away, so just stagger my days throughout the year.

Sounds like me. I've got 11 days to take between now and the end of the year. The place shuts down over Christmas and we have to save three days for that but that's not included my spare 11. Dunno when I'll actually take them though as I'm rather snowed under at work.

I'm with the 'randomised shit' lot. I hardly take holidays as I don't really have money to spend on them. I've never been on a plane or anywhere remotely exciting at all really. I normally see my mum 1 week in summer for a 'holiday.'

I dislike christmas but I try and spend a week with mum for it to make her happy as I rarely see her-this in itself should make her happy really. I have a few days off around my birthday in January aswell as the liver needs this time to heal

So about 3 weeks in total for 'holiday' time.

I usually take a couple of weeks (separately) off in the summer for various festivals, with long weekends and a few days over Christmas. Next year, however, I'm going on honeymoon so I'm taking three weeks off all in a big chunk.

Working at a university has it's advantages, such as 2 weeks minimum at christmas and 1 week at easter, plus 24 days on top of that. Oh and all bank holidays off ;)
