Hello.

What with myoptika moaning about people playing until late on Live, and various types saying they went to bed before 'Dead Set' finished last night, I would like to ask the question:

When does everyone normally go to bed on a week night?

Also, for the heck of it, when do you get up? How many hours of sleep does this give you?

In bed between 23 and 00. Normally get about around 06:45 (after the Today programme's newspaper review) to be first in the shower.
Annoyingly, I appear to be incapable of having a lie-in at weekends.

Half ten is my preferred time, sometimes I'll doze in bed with Newsnight on in the background before actually going to sleep. I love my kip and I go wrong if I don't get enough after a few days. Alarm goes off at 7 am.

If I'm working an 8-4 shift then most nights I'm in bed by 10:30pm and up at 6am. If I'm on a 10-6 I can usually stay up till about midnight-1am and then get up at 8am.

I don't moan, anyway. It's Zardoz who moans that we all go to bed too early.

Usually I plan on going to bed about midnight, but "oh I must quickly sort out X" tends to mean it's more like 15 or 20 past by the time I get to bed. I have problems getting to sleep anyway (I could easily stay up much later) so then I tend to listen to Radio 4 to fall asleep.

I'm terrible at getting up (even if I've got to sleep at a reasonable time), so my alarm goes off about 7 and I'm usually up by about 7:20.

At the weekend I can easily sleep to about 10 or 11 if I don't have another reason to be up.

I go to bed between 12 and 1, usually. Occasionally later, but very rarely earlier.

My first alarm goes off at 6:50, and after many snoozes and different alarms I tend to get up somewhere closer to 7:30.

This may go some way to explaining why I'm always tired.

It depends what I'm doing. If I'm stuck on the pissing Xbox then 2am :S or like last night it was about 11:30, but we did go out. So about 11:00 I'd say

I have a hangover :(

Yep, I used to do this when I took the car to work. I was always knackered and felt really lethargic all day. I'd get home and have an hour's nap, wake up feeling groggy and stay up until 12-1am again.

Now I'm cycling I just can't function on less than 7-7.5 hours a night.

Get some proper sleep! [/nag]

If I'm working in Exeter the next day I need to get up at about 05:45 and if I'm tired I'd head to bed between 21:00 and 22:00, if not tired I would try and be in bed before midnight.

If I'm working from home the next day, and it's not the school holiday then I need to be up between 07:00 and 07:30 so will once again normally go to bed before midnight.

If it's half term or a school holiday then in theory I can get out of bed at 08:50 and will probably want to be in bed before 02:00.

Sometimes I like to prove to myself that I can still handle myself the next day so will deliberately stay up really late even if I have to get up early to go to Exeter. During the summer I stayed awake all night for two week nights in a row, just to see if I could.

So yeah, can I tick all the boxes please?

:)

If I work the early (0700-1400) shift, I tend to go to bed about 10-11pmish. I'm then up for 6am, and so net about seven hours' sleep. Sometimes I have a nap in the afternoon.

If I work the late (1400-2100) shift, I tend to go to bed about 3am, and then don't get up until 11am or even noon, getting between eight and nine hours' sleep.

I do three early shifts, a day shift, and an evening shift. I get about three hours sleep regardless of which shift I'm on, and then catch up with about 13 hours sleep on my days off.

Or not, perhaps. I'm sure I've read studies where people who sleep an inordinately short amount of time each night actually live longer...

Normally between 11.30 and 1am, but usually at around 12.00am or 12.15am. Tonight I'll be getting to bed at about 12.30am because I've got to drive over to Church Stretton for shooting and won't be leaving there until about 11.30.

I normally wake up at about 7.15* but my first alarm goes off at 7.30, followed by an alarm at 7.45. I ignore both completely, they're just to wake me up in the rare event I'm still asleep at that time. My phone then goes mental at 8am on Wednesdays and Fridays, or 8.30am the other weekdays. I ignore that too, and I get up at about 8.25am on Wed/Fri and 8.45am on Mon/Tue/Thu, to get to work for 9am on all days.

There's something about sleeping for more that 8 hours a night I think. It's supposed to increase the risk of heart attacks or something.

I actually think the study was about people who slept for less than 4 hours each night. As Craster sleeps for 5.5 hours and Mr Russ catches up on his days off, they're both fucked.

I go to Bedford between 1-2am usually.

I'm up around 7.30-8am.

Also: I'm woken several times during the night by baba.

Weekends I can usually catch up and have a lie in though.

I'm usually asleep at 0030-1am, having gone to bed 30 mins earlier or so. Up at 8:15 Monday, Wed, Fri, 8:30 Tues and 9:30 Thurs for various reasons.

But like James I frequently get caught with "I'll just finish this-itus".

Once I've had my dinner and settled down with a fag and a beer I usually feel my eyelids getting heavy by 10 ish. I'd love to be able to stay up half the night so I could get more stuff done, but my body definitely tells me when it's time for bed.

I would probably stay up later if I was single, but the missus moans about all the gun fire and swearing keeping her awake, as if. So I normally end up till 11, normally a bit earlier, and out of bed at 6:45.

Usually in bed for midnight. Most nights straight to sleep, some other nights an hour our of.... activity. Alarm goes off at 6:05. So I get anywhere between 5 and 5 hours a night. Does me fine.

It's an improvement from my old job at the airport. I bed for 10pm, up at 3am (!) to work for 5. 11 hour shift and then home for an hour's kip before the missus came in. 3 days on, 3 days off. I was like a zombie most days.... and it was uphill both ways!

If I've been out on the Raz I wake up earlier than usual and am on time! Which is bloody weird as I'm never on time anywhere. If I sleep more than 9 hours I'm really really tired from oversleeping :s

That's because large amounts of alcohol disrupts your sleep. I'm the same - if I'd had one glass of wine I'll sleep like a log; a whole bottle and I'll sleep like shit and wake up before my alarm.

I have a bastard headache now! I only had 3 or 4 glasses of white wine though-I used to get through 3 bottles :S Ah well, cheap and cheerful-that's me!
