Hiya

Anyone getting Far Cry 2?
Personally I loved the original far cry's first few levels, so more of that, in open sprawling locations and the cool destructable effects from Crysis seems like a winner to me.

Preordered it from 365games for £28, so if its shit I might make a profit but all told the previews seem tasty, and the multiplayer sounds solid!

~If theres already a thread plz delete. ta

As long as there's not a shocking twist where you no longer fight humans and instead fight mutant stealth baboons/mutant humans/mutant aliens (as per Far Cry, Far Cry Instincts and Crysis respectively) halfway through, it could be good.

Yeah, I'm up for it at the moment. I'll wait to see a review but everything looks pretty promising so far.

There's on in the new PC Gamer, apparently:

Quote:
Far Cry 2 is almost upon us, and I’m seething with anticipation. PC Gamer’s Tim Edwards telling us that it effectively kills off the entire linear shooter genre doesn’t do anything to ease that. His review in the latest PC Gamer UK is worth reading. If he’s right - and I dearly hope he is - that will stand up as one of the best game reviews of 2008. Of one of the best games.

While Far Cry 2 is very definitely just a shooter, Edwards’ review suggests that Stalker’s “wide corridor” model (that I loved so much) is going to be made to look shabby by this seamless 50km world, as executed by a talented, well-funded studio. I can’t wait to get to grips with the kind of freedom in an FPS that has previously only really manifested itself in GTA games.

My American friend says that it is awesome and that it will finally stop me playing CoD4 all the time.

I'm not sure it will, as I might not buy it... but I'm certainly tempted...

sorry I couldnt see the score in that article there but before eurogamer had the call of duty adverts, there was a far cry 2 one on for a short while with the pc gamer score and comment, which was 90 odd percent I think 93 if I strain my memory saying that it was something special or like that, sounds like the fps for this year.

Well that's a definite then, as long as the 360 version isn't game-breakingly crippled or something. It also comes out the day after my birthday.
