Another year and another attempt to guess how much money your going to spend on gaming !

Any hardware your looking at picking up ?

Are there big games you are going to grab on day 1 - or will you wait for the magic £20 mark ?

Post your estimate here and try and keep track of just how much money you are throwing away when instead you could be outside !

After a mere twelve years, I've finally spent five minutes making the tracker pay attention to the thread you arrived from, meaning I'll never have to update it again. I've edited the FOREVER LINK into Zaphod's post.

I already have it on disc, but the Series S doesn't have a slot! It's been at near £20 for ages, but I saw it was on offer and jumped on it

Mr Fast - Steam <0.39> - described as a twin stick shooter, but it's more Cannon Fodder (mouse to aim, separate fire button), than Smash TV/Robotron. Bit fiddly on the Steam Deck, left stick to move, right to move the mouse cursor (or touch screen if you can manage that), and right trigger to shoot, I might have to see if there are any better layouts (there aren't, but right trackpad works and is much better than the stick). I've had more than 40p's worth of entertainment out of it, but I think it's only on sale for another 10 hours or so.

Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King - Steam <2.74> - Rather than actually try and finish Link to the Past for once, why don't I just buy this somehow-evaded-Nintendo's-lawyers-up-to-now "tribute."
It looks very much like LttP, and I'm hoping for good things when I get round to playing it.

@MailiA you do know you can get Playstation Pounds a little bit cheaper than face value , I always used to use CDKeys in the past but more recently Shopto has had better offers

https://www.shopto.net/en/search/?input_search=psn

So for example that £50 you just got could have been £42.85 : https://www.shopto.net/en/dls55596-play ... 00-p52491/

Pay Shopto you get a pretty much instant code , stick the code in and your account has the £50 credit and your ~7 quid better off ?

Rebel Assault 1 and 2 (Steam) <2.51>
I think I'm having some kind of nostalgic mid-life crisis. Possibly brought about by that Duncan MacDonald book I just read (I'm currently reading through scans of all the issues of PC Zone - I think Quake's just about to come out). Anyway, I was a bit dubious about how well this might work on the Steam Deck, so I thought I'd better test them.

Rebel Assault is a bit of a mess at first, as you need to use the keyboard to navigate the launcher (or I guess I could have set a different layout), but once you're in, it seems to work ok (I managed to get through the training missions anyway). There was a community mouse/gyro layout, but I was terrible with that, so went back to the default (with added escape button to skip the cut scenes).

Two seemed to work ok out of the box with the left joystick allowing you to control the cursor in the launcher.

My testing stretched to 82 minutes, so I guess they weren't't too bad.

Strikey Sisters (Steam) <1.99>
I keep reading about various games, then adding them to my wishlist, then when they go on sale (like this is), I don't recognise the name (like this one) and have to see if I can remember why it made it onto the list in the first place.
Turns out this is the "breakout one", I didn't play it much as I ate up my downtime with the Rebel Assaults, but yeah, it's kind of like breakout (or Arkanoid, if you prefer that reference), but you're the bat. Sorry, that's all I've got, I only had a quick go.

Cor, that's a spicy price for 1tb. I'd be expecting 2 for that money.

It didn't seem entirely unreasonable, if you add an extra drive to a PS5 it has to meet certain criteria for the console to even accept it, and it's highly recommended that it has a decent heatsink on it too.

The one I got was available locally off the shelf, all I had to do was drive over there and pick it up, rather than order online and wait for delivery.

I had a quick scan around online for drives of the same spec and whilst £120 was at the upper end of the price bracket, it didn't seem crazy either. Overclockers will do this for £100, for example.

I finished the collection and unlocks in vampire survivors the other day.

Great game, but I'm not ready to pay the 1.50 for the DLC yet!

Especially as if I get that then I'll have to buy the main game to avoid problems when it leaves gamepass.

Reminder for everyone , you can buy PS Plus Premium or anything from the Playstation store by using PS 'money' instead of regular money , and you can get at least 10% off PS money by buying either via CDKeys or by Shopto

Just an example one :

https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/ps80-p ... to-4105510

Thats £80 worth of Playstation money for either £66 (if you've shopped at Shopto a bit over the last year) or £70.85 for everyone else
