I'm looking for a copy of Harvest Moon (It's A Wonderful Life) for my brother.

Does anyone know of any online shops apart from evilBay that still sells gamecube games, either new or pre-owned. I found it on play-trade but wondered if there were any alternatives as the results from play-trade/amazon marketplace can be variable at best.

I've got a copy, but I never play it any more. Give me an address and I'll stick it in the post.
[edit]90% sure I've got it, but my brothers might have it. If they do I won't be able to get it until Sunday.

I didn't know CEX had an online store. I have been to their store in Harrow and really disliked it. I found it harrowing, in fact.

Online is good. As lose as it loses the smell of the shop on its way :smug:

The Ipswich store has music set to "Jet Engine" level. After about 3 minutes of browsing you will get a massive headache and not be able to hear the person standing next to you. How the staff cope, I have no idea.

Is that the music or the demonstration XB0x 360?

The demo Xbox 360 has red rings, so I doubt it's that.

Every CEX I've been in has 2 distinct features:
    Stinks of piss :spew:
Plays really loud death/speed/some kind of metal :metul:

Is this the case all over the country?

:this: I'll second that for every I've been into... so that'll be Birmingham and The Merry Hill store in the West Midlands.

Honestly, the Merry Hill store was brand new! It had only been there a couple of weeks and it already stunk of piss/spew. It must be intentional.

I think you'll find that's probably because it's in Merry Hill.

When I say "every", I mean Birmingham, and probably Solihull. So a slight generalisation there. :p

The Brum branch is rank. Not helped by being in that ditch which seems to be used as a public urinal. I only found the Merry Hill branch the other week when I went in searching for The Works which had shut down. Such a narrow place that I got 2 columns of games in before giving up and leaving due to people clogging the aisles. The horrible hairy crack of a student rummaging around on the lower shelves for something didn't help.

If he can't find it, you could have my copy - I never really engaged with it as compared to FOMT.

They've had one for years but for a while they decided to scrap it and instead tell you how many were in stock at each branch. A good few years back their website was really patchy and you could search for stuff by price and find stuff listed at £0.00p so I'd order a batch of stuff and then add a £2 game just to give the order some value. Nine times out of ten I'd get my stuff. :)

Haven't been in the CEX store in Hanley for some time as every time I went in there the queue would stretch across the shop meaning I couldn't even browse properly. It's odd - the more staff they employ, the larger the queues get.

Leeds CEX smells, plays bad metal and is full of the ugly.

That's exactly how teh Harrow store appeared to me. It was like an old grunge club basement. It smalled of boy.

Some boys smell nice (like me). However, CEX does generally smell of Video Game Boy (for logical reasons*), which is generally pretty disgusting. And fat.

* I am put in mind of that game tournament a year or so ago which felt the need to remind partakers to wash every day.

Jon's excellent guide to surviving the Birmingham branch of CEX :

Step 1 : Ensure that girlfriend or significant other gets a job within 15 meters of said branch (preferably in the pub just by the start of the ditch to ensure cheap pints although I didn't manage this myself as I don't think she wishes to be a barmaid again)

Step 2 : Send them in during their lunch hour to see if they have what you want, thereby avoiding pissy ditch and pukey shop based traumas.

Step 3 (optional) : Giggle in the joy of knowing that a female's mere presence in the shop would likely have caused at least three pubescent oiks to despoil themselves somewhat. (Does depend on gender of significant other)

I only know of Devilman's site. He might be able to point you in the direction of others though.

The Leeds CEX is about the worst one I've ever been in. The one here in Doncaster is still quite nice as it's still quite new. Plays some good music occasionally because there's a guy there into the same sort of music as me. He used to work in a record shop two doors down from the place which closed.

eBay can be surprisingly good for this. Because Americans don't like paying shipping (when they realise they have to), and most English use PAL systems, any NTSC games in the UK tend to go for about three pence. I got Resi 4 so cheaply that I almost felt bad. Almost.

I used to use VideoGamesPlus which still seems to be going strong for GC games. They're Canadian.

Don't forget to switch your currency to GBP and also have a look in the Price drop bin.
