Yeah, Southampton looked fucked. Double fucked if the chinless wonder Wupert has his way and becomes chairman again.

Looks like Aldershot won the Setenta Shield as well. Although the BBC have barely covered the competition.

Yay, but so do Bournemouth unfortunately - in more ways than one.

Three minutes of extra time to play and a goal in the ninety-fifth minute.
Fallen out with your watch, ref?

I wondered that too. I must've missed the bit when they announced how long was left but there surely wasn't five minutes worth. Bit of a sickener for Liverpool though as they were the better team.

There were some rubbish refereeing decisions against both teams.

No.

A MINIMUM of FOUR minutes and the goal occured at 94:10 during an attack that began before 94mins.

Perfectly normal.

ITV flashed up 3 minutes. This in no way makes it fact, of course.

The actual champions league supplied caption (i.e - top left) was 4. I didn't see a 3 and I was watching ITV, I dare say I could have missed an ITV pushed pop up.

Regardless it was 4, which tbh was far too much. Doesn't change the fact that given it WAS 4, it was played correctly.

And yes, the ref got a hell of a lot wrong on both sides.

Also fucking hell Ronaldo.

Weren't there five subs (2.5 minutes) and an injury (1.5 minutes)? Or at least a bunch of timewasting?

Amusing (despite me wishing English teams well in Europe) that Cronaldo missed a penalty, but had the game been at Old Trafford he'd have had another two chances for getting felled twice in the box later on.

Potentially, but it seemed long to me and of course I had an interest in a lot of injury time.

Subs don't add injury time, I thought? That's why managers do so much subbing near the end if they are in the lead.
Or did they change the rules?

Yep. There is supposed to be thirty seconds of added time per substitution these days. It is often laxly applied, and anyway will run more than 30 seconds off the clock if the players are sufficiently sluggish, hence the continued value of running time down in that fashion.

More importantly than that, it breaks up the play and prevents the chasing team from gathering any momentum.

Well that's just super that is, so now at the English FA Cup final, in England they're going to play 2 anthems, neither of which are the English one.

Quite apart from the fact that apparently Cardiff and the other welsh teams now have access to the europe places of two countries.

If I were a team of Aston Villa's level I'd be trying to get into the Welsh cup right now, guaranteed European football.

Do we even have an 'English' national anthem, assuming that the funeral march that is 'God Save The Queen' is the British one?

Land of Hope and Glory. Only semi-official I grant you but they do use it at the commonwealth games for the english, yet strangely not for english sports where it's the funeral march.

Even when we play scotland is the funeral march and the scottish anthem "We're fucked when the oil runs out", despite the fact the funeral march is just as much theirs as english.

I would of course also accept "Ooh! Stick you!".

I'd say it's more likely you'll give Cardiff an utter spanking.

And then perhaps win a game of football.

Not sure when Villa are playing Cardiff...

2-2 today though, interesting game.

Certainly a livelier-than-usual Chelsea/Liverpool affair. It'll be interesting to see if Torres had an injury because if he hasn't then Benitez screwed that one up - certainly the right move to bring Babel on but take off someone like Kuyt instead.

Yeah, apparently he had hamstring twang.

I was out actually playing football last night, but got back home just as it was about to go to extra time, so I certainly got to watch an entertaining half an hour!

They're claiming a hamstring twinge but quite frankly Liverpool don't have another competitive game until August so unless his leg is actually hanging off I'd have been loathe to sub him.

LOL @ Drogba twisting his knee and hopefully missing the final. Hell, it'd almost be worth them winning it to see the pain in his eyes at missing out.

See also: John Terry.

I'm nervous, loves.

I think Chelsea are going to win tomorrow and to be honest I'm not sure I can continue to care about football if they do.

I'll still love QPR and will watch them whenever, but currently I've got a good knowledge of the game at the higher levels and I just don't think I'll be able to care anymore.

However, if they lose I'll probably wank myself to death.

YES!

And what a perfect ending - the hateful Terry missing a pen, and Dogbollocks getting sent off.

I can't stop chuckling with glee.

I never thought I would have sympathy for John Terry, but that was an absolute bastard of a way to miss the winning penalty.

To be honest, after his antics in the game, I'd rather it was Tevez who missed in such a way.

I'd rather it was Ashley Cole missing it. Felt quite sorry for England's Brave John Terry.

Either way, incredible match.
