Oh man, this is exciting.

I was just recently thinking about digging out MI1 and playing through it with my eldest son - now that he can read good, and is coming up close to the age I was, when I played it with my dad.

How much is it on other platforms? I really want to play this but only have a Switch, where it is £22. Does that seem about right?

I'm hoping Fangamer or Limited Run come forward with a solution to the digital curse. I bought my Thimbleweed Park box from Fangamer and it's great.

I bought this for Switch and it is really good. The art and animation style are quite well suited to the game - it feels 'fitting' and like a storybook. Any doubts I had (and frankly they were pretty small anyway) were very quickly gone. There is one TINY thing however, I really don't like the pink tip at the end of Guybrush's nose.

Voice acting is great, especially, and as usual, Guybrush's voice. Having the same actor do the voice over the multiple games really does help with that consistent feeling, and he's such a good choice.

I've been really trying not to look at videos or read reviews, I don't want to know too much about it at all, as I really want it to be my experience.

If you liked the original Monkey Island(s), you'll like this. If you didn't really care for them, well, um, I dunno really, you probably wouldn't be in this thread anyway.

We’ve been playing this the last couple of nights, too. Agree with everything you’ve said. Well, apart from the nose, which I hadn’t noticed.

I'm really enjoying this. Particularly impressed by how cleverly designed the control system is and what a great idea the task list is for remembering what to do between sessions.

I've played this a lot since I downloaded it on Tuesday night. I am really enjoying it.

I haven't dipped into the hint book yet, and am reluctant to do so. Even on hard mode, I've found that most of the puzzles are reasonable and progress was fairly swift, although there were a couple that took a little while to click, putting the game down and coming back the next day seemed to do the trick for me.

However, I'm pretty sure I'm on one of the last major puzzles now and have come to a big shuddering halt. It's not quite frustrating me yet, I think I know what it is meaning me to do, but can't quite work it out properly.

I think we’re on Chapter 4 now, and really enjoying it. We have played it on ‘hard’ mode too, and it’s all been very in keeping with the previous games, which helps.

I've had a sneaky look at the hints a couple of times, mostly just to reassure myself that I'm on the right lines when I've been a bit stuck. It's designed really well, giving high level hints initially before getting more detailed.

I finished it last night. I really enjoyed it, such a charming game and experience. It really did feel like it had been crafted with love and care.

I did have to peek at the hints as I was getting frustrated with the last puzzle. I'd missed something small, and had overcomplicated what I was trying to do.

That last shot is going to be my next tattoo. Will go nice on the otherside of my Monkey 1 shopkeeper one.

I'm hoping there's a path to more. Maybe the old Indiana Jones fable of a younger character taking it over, what with guybrush's son. Also Elaine's last words might leave the door open for more.

I hope it does being about some more. It’s exactly the sort of game that I can just sit back enjoy for a couple of evenings.

I see there's a lot of hate, but also a lot of admiration too, for the ending. I'm glad that I read pretty much nothing about the game, no reviews, before playing it.

I actually found it quite moving. I was tempted to put it down and leave it unfinished.

There's a couple of different scenes, depending on which line of dialogue you choose at the end, which I didn't realise until I went reading after finishing it.

I didn't want to switch the lights off and leave, I sometimes find finality like that a little upsetting

I did the same. I kept on getting Russell to recheck everything so that we didn’t have to switch it off as it felt really sad.

Related, are there any other good point and click adventure games on the Switch with a similar type of humour?

We tried the Sam and Max ones but they weren't a hit.

Thank you. I've played Grim Fandango before but we've gone for that first and then we'll hit up Thimbleweed Park.

One of the many things I love about this game is that if you have a lengthy-ish gap between sessions, you get a quick recap of what's happening and what you need to do. Simple but clever!

I did not know that happened as I played a bit every day until I finished it. Love the sound of that, very neat.

Finished it last night. Really enjoyed the ride. Threepwood remains one of the greatest gaming characters of all time.
I did peak at the hint book a handful of times but mostly the first clue was enough to reassure me that I was on the right track, and there was one time where I had completely failed to notice an area an island that it alerted me to. I don't feel bad about doing it - my game, my entertainment, my sense of achievement.

Major spoilers:

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
I thought the T-shirt was hilarious. The theme park idea? Well, they'd already played with that at the start, and there's nothing to suggest it can't be a sudden flashforward. As with Mimi, there was something final about turning off all the lights but I did it anyway.

Only by reading this thread (and a couple on Reddit) did I learn there were slightly alternate endings based on the final dialogue choices. Enough for me to replay and try a different one - I went for "the friends we met along the way" as it's the kind of cheesy thing I think Guybrush would say.

I hated, hated, hated the code wheel puzzle. I knew what to do but whatever I tried just wasn't working. I blame the slab - had the "four years" thing been at the end of the rhyme it would been far more obvious to hit the date last.
