I have a car and it has Bluetooth connectivity as media player and telephone. I previously had an iPhone (but it broke) and this connected via Bluetooth as a media player and allowed 1) control of the media player via car screen 2) searching for artists, albums, etc 3) continuation of where song stopped when car stopped or travel news kicked in.
My new Android phone only allows pause and next track via Bluetooth.
Is this a function of the telephone or the media player? If the media player, does anyone know of a media player on android which offers the same Bluetooth control as iPhone?

Define "car". There was a generation of Fords that worked pretty well with iPhones but not so well with Android phones.

Searching for artists and albums is not something I've seen Bluetooth itself support, but that's not to say it can't do it - all the audio-capable Bluetooth cars I've been in have supported has been prev/next track, play/pause, and the display of text (and sometimes album art) on the screen - certainly not searching or anything?
Stopping for travel reports and then kicking back in should be a function of the car though - check to make sure you've not switched off "TA" on your head unit.

Car is a Toyota Auris '13.
Gaz, I meant that it stops for the travel news, but then restarts the song when the TA has finished, rather than continuing from the point it stopped at.

Looks as if iOS supports the more advanced versions of Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) over Bluetooth, which allows what you have stated (searching etc.)
So I'd imagine that your Android phone doesn't, and only does the basic stuff. Whether it's a limitation of Android itself, or the media player you're using, I don't know. Probably the operating system.
