Cheapest is Tesco they are doing a bottle of Champagne for £8! From today until the 2nd December

Despite it being a school night I bought one to try later tonight for the purpose of review :DD

There's some very good tokaji at Aldi for £18 a bottle this week. Or there was anyway.

No aldi near me :(

Although its 5.22pm I just poured the first glass of the £8 Champagne from Tesco

Its very dry and quite sharp, which is what the supermarket specials tend to be like.

Personally I probably won't get any more as it gives me the impression I would end up having to take a load of Gaviscon if I drank any amount of it

It still worth £8, but nowhere near the £25.99RRP Tesco are trying to bullshit people with.

Believe it or not I pay some attention to the price of champagne. Annoyingly the tesco stuff is sold out all over. It's pretty decent stuff, too.

The £18 Tokaji is a lot more interesting. Time to hunt for an Aldi. Damned living in middle class areas.

Surprised by your assessment, I've had it before and it's perfectly palatable.

To be fair the 2nd glass was better, thinking maybe it wasn't cold enough.

There was a mountain of it at the entrance to my Tesco. I had gone there for Yoghurt, but for the mountain of cheap champagne before me I would have left with only Yoghurt as well!

Get me one if you do. I own far too many unopened dessert wines but its worth a punt.

I'm banking on this not been too popular in the Slough branch, could be wrong though if the Windsor shoppers have got down wind of it!

Or any champagne, really. I've had most sorts of champers, and I would still rather a bottle of half decent prosecco.

Yeah. Realised belatedly that saying tokaji without confirming it was 6 was not giving the complete story.

not arsed about champagne but I do 90% of my shopping at Aldi these days
its just ridiculously good value, excellent quality stuff.

Nothing to do with class, it just makes financial sense.

I can't believe this thread exists and is so popular yet my Amiga kickstarter book thread languishes somewhere in the darkest pits of the forum.

Queueing only works as long as everyone in the queue thinks they have a chance of getting what they're queueing for. The mistake that these shops have made is having a pile of the tellies or whatever that people can see whilst they queue. Someone say 30 people from the front does a quick tally in their head and realises that they're unlikely to get what they've waited for and they get anxious. This anxiety transmits down the queue in both directions and order breaks down.

They should hand them out from a stock room one by one.

Or! Send fucking Black Friday back over the pond where they're used to this fucking madness.

They are not even good TV's either some make I've never heard off. I would also guess that what ever price they are flogging them today will be repeated through out the year. That's my big problem with RRP the shops just make it up.

EDIT just watched the video, what a nasty environment that was to shop in!

You'd really be pissed off if you'd met someone in the pub last night and taken them home, having decided that the best place to stop off for condoms was the 24 hour Tesco at the end of your road, arriving at 12:01.

Did YOU leave the pub with a guaranteed shag last night but had to stop off at the supermarket for prophylactics only to be hampered by Black Friday shoppers? Let us know by texting or tweeting us. Please take care to follow all applicable road safety rules before sending us your comments, videos or pictures.
