Now that we’ve argued the toss on the voting system, let’s have your list!

Ideally I’d like everyone who is reading this to compile a top 10 of their favourite games which I will make into a forum top 50 for 2014. Your games can be from any format and from any generation so if you’re a 3DO fan, you’re not being left out!

Put your list in order so that number 1 is your favourite game, 2 your second favourite and so on. When all the votes are in I will be awarding points based on British Nervosos formula one system which goes as follows:-

1st place = 25 points
2nd Place = 18 points
3rd place = 15 points
4th place = 12 points
5th place = 10 points
6th place = 8 points
7th place = 6 points
8th place = 4 points
9th place = 2 points
10th place = 1 point

The deadline to get your lists to me is Sunday 23rd March at 11:59pm and anything received after this date will not be counted but may still be charged. That gives you 2 weeks to have a real good think about what should be included in your personal list. Please only vote for each game once but feel free to start a discussion in this thread as it may inspire others to do the same.

I did ask Grim... if he could set up an email address for this but I scrapped that idea and think that a PM will suffice so start thinking, start writing and get me your lists. (Of course, if people think an email would be better than let me know as I’m sure Grim... would just love to set up an email address for this very purpose)

There’s no need to write reviews on the games but by all means, if that’s something you want to share when the list goes up then feel free.

The previous top 50 looked like this..
The previous top 50 wrote:

I think I've got my top ten. I've put it in an order and will sit on it for a week or so.

Is there strategic posting of ten's in this thread or is a blind vote? I'd plump for the former (if anyone wants to post their ten of course) just in case you forget about a game or twenty.

You can discuss your votes by all means but I think a blind vote would be preferable.

I'd say that's the right call. It'll be a nice surprise. :)

Not so sure. Easy to be reminded of something good which you'd consider but otherwise not remember.

Unless of course you have a spreadsheet of all your games.

I can't.

Currently the top 1 of my list is fairly obvious.

Beyond that I don't know aside from try not to fart at #8

How about campaigning for tremendous games that might be unfairly forgotten about (cough cough Birrors Tedge, cough cough Trythm Bengoku)?

Campaigning is a strong word but I reckon it's fair to mention them and why you like them.

Its an unusual game which has a lot of rabid fans (who will put it at the top) and a lot of people who enjoyed what it did (who will put it in the middle) so I do think it will get a lot of points - it also (until the end of the week) has a single game that people can vote on (rather than COD7 vs COD8 or Halo 2 vs Halo3)

And it's multiplatform too, I guess. I haven't actually played it yet. :)

It's shockingly average, but people really love repetition.

I don't think the for franchise would split the vote that much, surely MW is the definitive one? I know a few people loved zombies but that's almost a totally different game.
I'll be including Assassins creed 2 which holds a special place in my heart, and Mass Effect 2. Oh and also The Last of Us, and maybe the reboot of the atom raider franchise. Maybe Sims 3 as well. Oh and minecraft!
Are we including iOS? So tempting to include Ticket to ride...

To be fair, the results are, but not the thread. I think we posted our lists in the thread, so it would make interesting reading...

I don't want to read it till I've made my new list. To see how consistent I am.

You didn't specify your own list, you asked for the last vote. I don't even remember posting my own publicly, so I don't know where yours is, I'm afraid.

Here you go then. I just did a search for threads with 'all time' in the subject with chinny as the author.

I really didnt think you were around for the last one however the two threads around it are

Here : viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4023
and
Here : viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4191

FYI if you could remember just one of your top ten you could have searched for all posts made by you with that title in there which would have at least gave you a starting point (thats how I found it the last time for me)

Yeah about that - these took place in June 2009 and your profile says you joined in March 2010 so it may not help you...

The more things change the more things stay the same:

I've just found my top ten in that thread. Amusingly, my number 1 game last time has dropped to 8, and my number 2 game has stayed the same. :S

It's not essential but could you include the format of the game your voting on?

It may not effect the final top 50 but it'll certainly be interesting.

Will do. Narrowing it down. Some significant changes, if I stick with what I think....

It's hard to adjust for time. Especially in games recently played, like Last of Us...

Well, isn't the point that we're choosing an 'all-time best list' based on now, like a snapshot of time? Otherwise we'd have to wait until the apocalypse and hastily cobble something together...

We need to assign a quantitive value to game quality inflation.

Or, you know, just PICK TEN FUCKING GAMES.

I agree with Dr Lave. I don't know of The Last of Us is the greatest thing since sliced bread or the best thing I've played recently cause I can still remember playing it.

I played it through first time last June when it was released, then put it on the backburner until Left Behind came out (GTA V/Online then got in the way for a while). I enjoyed the DLC so much that I went through another playthrough of the main game on Normal+. I had to stop myself attempting a Survivor runthrough in case I burnt out playing it, but I plan on doing it again at some point this year.

It's unquestionably the best game I've ever played.

That's right Cras, try to minimize discussion on a forum, ya dolt.

This is exactly my problem. I think it's one of the greatest game I've played since Dark Souls, but unlike Dark Souls it will probably be unremarkable a few years from now. I'm too close to it.
