May have a Zeppo tagging along with us — not sure when he’ll decide though as he’ll need to find accommodation, so I’ll get his sponds chucked across when we know for sure.

Zeppo's in, as long as there'd be room (and suitable permission from yourself!) for him to crash in your living room in a sleeping bag or something like that :)

With less than a week to go, here's a link to the traditional MeatUp playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0xCUY ... 3d36379906

Feel free to sling on as many songs as you want, but a reminder that we have neighbours and they have children, so any songs with NAUGHTY WORDS will be skipped over.

Quick MeatUp announcement: in case it wasn't obvious, there won't be any campfire (or fireworks, @Jacket ) this year, due to the risk of burning the entire garden down.

Hello lovelies

I will be joining you and I am still Covid-afeard due to my stupid blood being keen on killing me. Even though we are outdoors, the newer Covid variants are significantly more infectious than the ones we lived with through 2020 and 2021, so simply "being outdoors" is no longer the strong protection it once was.

So: can I please ask you all to do a covid test before attending, so we can all be more confident and relaxed around each other?

If this presents anyone an issue, please let me know!

I mean, if it presents an issue for you then by all means let Doc know, but also: you're not coming

Will do, Doc. I've got a test kit and I'll stick it up my nose tomorrow morning.

Good news everyone, I'm entirely Covid free! Phew. Thought I might be since I had my dose of Omicron only two months ago, but yes, MeatUp here I come!

Coo, had an hour to kill before the train and bumped into Magnum photographer David Hurn in the town centre. I interviewed him on Zoom about an exhibition of his for an article about six months ago, so we both went and got coffee and pastries and killed time down the caf. Which was nice. Spry fella for somebody who photographed the Hungarian uprising.

Yup. It was in ffoton Photography Journal, but I don't know if its online. Might have the proof pdf from the editor somewhere you could read, or could bring the journal to Beex Cottage.

Hurn today: "I always wanted to go to Mexico to shoot the Day of the Dead with all the dessication and the skulls and everything, but I'm too old now so I settled on the people at Tintern flower show which is the bext best thing."

I did one on Thursday prior to attending my nieces wedding yesterday, but we’ll do new ones before we head down. I’ll ask Zeppo to do one too.

Timings wise, we’re not likely to get to Bedford until around 6pm at this rate… save us some foods pls! ;)

I’m in an EV now, even if I wanted to speed it’d just have the opposite of the intended effect as I’d just have to stop and charge more often ;)

We’ve already wasted an hour because one of the kids left their fucking Switch in our hotel room so we had to turn back and get it, hnnnnnngh.

Change of plan — we’re not gonna make it. Been on the road since 8am this morning and I haven’t got it in me to go another 2.5 hours down to Chez Grim… :(

Hope you’re having a good one all, at least Cottage isn’t that far away!

//edit: that includes Zeppo too as we were gonna pick him up on the way through.

Hope you all had a great time at the Beexbeque. We had a mini midlands beexbeque at Dr Zoidberg’s. Only five of us, so nothing like your great big ‘do’, but it was a really wonderful afternoon and evening.

Yeah, me too, weirdly. Though we were in bed by the normal time, I felt absolutely shattered yesterday and am still a bit tired today.

Did you get your big new outside set up that you built going?

It must be over six years since Darwin and I saw you too, because I think Darwin was under a year old when we rocked up at the office and caused chaos.

Yep, that wasn’t too long after I’d started there, so he was very smol at the time.

That was one splendid Meat-Up and once again a truly lovely weekend thanks to the fantastic hosts Mr & Mrs Grim and Willow the Wonderdog. Far better than Green Man which was probably swallowed by a giant sinkhole or over-run by sinister Wicker Man style cultists or something.

Highlights:

Willow the Wonderdog - except the bit where she kicked me in the balls.
Those slivers of peppered steak in Mystery Green Sauce. Mmm.
Proving an authoritative boss on the subject of old movies in drinking game.
Grim and Doc's surprised expressions at my bringing acceptably tasty meat.
Witnessing uncanny God-tier knowledge of Dad's Army in drinking game.
Sharing snarky comments at that Chicago Doctor Pretty Face medical show, and watching buffoons entirely fail to respond adequately to a car accident on the very doorstep of their hospital .
The WWF / WWE Wrestling duvet cover in the guest room.

And seeing all you guys again. D'aw. Luvely. xx

There can be no reasonable reason for it but this made me start wondering if a doner spit and smoker can somehow be combined because... Well. I mean, right?

Ron can (ironically) take a spit, I think Grim...'s mostly used it for pineapple.
