I am still thinking of trying the screw method before I take the panel off. I would have tried it earlier but I couldn't find a wood screw so sending wife out to the shed this afternoon to look for one.

Trying to get a self tapper started into a bouncy ball without shoving it even further down might be tricky.

I'm thinking about approaching it from a slight angle, hoping coming from the direction I'm assuming the bend goes. Sneaking up on it.

Bit late now but order a drain cover thingy too so it can't happen again.

The plug has one built in but I started removing it when bath time was finished because if I don't, she presses the plug back down to prolong the bath. Which was ok when there was just her but more difficult when there's a rampaging one year old charging about looking for her bottle and toast.

I told our daughter that if she was still in the bath when the plug came out that she might disappear down the plughole. She believed me and frantically wanted to come out as soon as I went anywhere near it. Kids are idiots lol.

Yes and yes.

I emptied the bath including the drain down to ball level :hat: then tried to vacuum it out. It was moving round but not up. So I decided I was going to have to take the side panel off and remove the trap but before I did that I thought I’d go balls out :hat: and try to stab it with something. So I tried a sharp knife, which did puncture the ball but couldn’t find purchase. Then I thought maybe I could use the sharp knife to squeeze down the side and get underneath it but the knife was just sliding back out. Then I thought I might be able to create enough space to squeeze a fork in which I could, but I couldn’t leverage it back out. Then I stabbed the ball with the fork and the cut I’d made with the knife helped the fork go in and I was able to work the ball back up. All of that, and the kids got their bedtime bath tonight.

Yay! So pleased for a happy ending that didn't involve dismantling half the bathroom :DD

The lesson we can all learn is "stabbing things is the answer"

The other lesson we can all learn is to not listen to what anyone says on the forum and instead, trust a small child to do it for you!
