Nah, they’re pretty big at my daughter’s primary school along with croc charms which go in the little holes. Fucking UGG boots as well. “In” or “out” both of these forms of footwear are an obscenity on the feet of a fully grown adult.

Mullets are also making a bit of a come-back in the UK, it seems. I've spotted plenty of youngsters with them.

Apparentlly, when my niece wears Crocs it's cool and awesome, and when I wear a pair it's, like, totally cringe.

I'm sorry, but ADHD has become a scam that is wildly overdiagnosed and an excuse for poor behaviour

Saw a Robin Ince post earlier - Peter Hitchens saying "Dyslexia doesn't exist. It's a made-up affliction". Ince said "...the sort of mind Peter Hitchens has - he lacks empathy - if he doesn't experience it then it is made up and can be dismissed". Reckon you might broaden that to much of what identifies itself as 'the right'.

I’ve got a pair of crocs because they are ace for when I’m gardening, and Russell has two pairs: one by the back door (for gardening jobs) and one by the front door (for taking the bins out).

We’ve never worn them outside of those purposes, apart from once where I needed something for the garden and we had a quick dash to B&Q and I forgot to take them off. I suddenly became aware they were on my feet in the middle of B& Q and felt immediately self-conscious, but in the queue I noticed that every one of the three people in front of me was wearing crocs, which I’d never have noticed if it wasn’t for how self-conscious I was feeling and I then realised that nobody notices or cares (or maybe I just don’t).

I’ve never knowingly worn them outside since then, but that’s mostly because I like more foot support when I’m out and about. I think they are perfect to slip on the feet for the garden though. They’re just slippers for outside, and if my garden is part of my house, then they make sense.

You may wear them for the above purposes.

I’ve only worn them at the awkward birth of my daughter when I had to dress in some gown and pinch a nurses pair* before allowed in theatre.

You’d have been too preoccupied with your awkward daughter to notice, but I’m telling you that they were super comfy. Also, good on that nurse to lend you their shoes.

Did you keep them on after the interval, or slip into something more appropriate?

My crocs are for around the house, as being in just sock or barefoot doesn't feel comfortable, especially on the hard floor of the kitchen, bathroom and laundry. The carpets are also quite thin, I don't know if there is any underlay.

And yet, outside in the garden I love being barefoot. I'll take my crocs and my socks off to walk to the shed, or to take the bins out, even just on the patio. I intentionally try and spend as much time barefoot outside as I can.

I think I'd rather be seen walking around the shops barefoot than in crocs. Everyone else in the shop would think that's a bit gross though.

The lollipop man died and now i'm more sad than I feel I should be as every day we would laugh about it being a good or bad day to hang washing out and how many loads could hypothetically get done in daylight remaining (don't want the washing darked on).

Sorry to hear that. There was an old geezer down the road I'd often chat to on the way back from the school run. Then one day a few months back he wasn't there and that was that.

Someone from the last place I worked, who did most of my interview there, died yesterday. I was there 9 years, left 9 years ago. Peculiar non-feelings but not no-feelings about this.

Hullo! Happy Birthday Curio, you share a birthday with me!

Sorry it's been a while since I've checked in. Been a bit of a busy time and I scaled back being online a bit for a while. Overall I'm doing okay, have given up drinking for a good while (aside from a glass of wine now and again from a Fancy Dan place at a weekend lunchtime with a good book) and have found there to actually be some reasonable 0.5% beers out there, with some good ones by Drop Beer. Don't know how long I'll be on this kick but it surprisingly hasn't been that hard to give up. Am still reading westerns, still playing Cities Skylines, American Truck and The Long Dark a lot and am currently towards the end of Xenoblade 3, which is excellent. Still going out photographing weird art projects, am eating slightly more healthily (giving up Fox's biscuits Jammy Dodgers equivalent has been very hard) and walking a fair bit more, so I've even lost a little weight. A little. A bit.

Hope everyone is well here! Amusingly, Lord Rixondale has brought me tickets to some wrestling going on in Cardiff for my birthday, born of my new found addiction to the very entertaining 'Wrestle Me' podcast which, as with all podcasts, I have discovered about ten years late. Off to see the family this weekend, for picnics and watching French detective Maigret on the telly. Hope you all have a lovely weekend too, I'll try and slip awkwardly back into this Beex party place now. Please excuse me while I sidle up crabwise into the kitchen alongside the olives and dips. xxx
