Sleeping Dogs - Out next week

So I've seen this mentioned on NeoGAF a few times but I never bothered to investigate and click into a thread until today. I had absolutely no idea this even existed. It looks really good. And it's out next week?!

Has anyone been following this? I've only watched the above video, but it does a fine job of making it look good. It's basically GTA Hong Kong with Triads and stuff, but the combat looks like it'll put GTA's clunkiness to shame. And you can use the environment to fight!

Of course, it'll probably turn out to be a dud, right? No reviews yet as far as I can tell.

Who's going to be the BEEX guinea pig and buy this first? Where's Ian?

This is essentially True Crime 3, isn't it? The first two were dogshit - I wouldn't touch this with yours. If a True Crime game is so bad the publisher drops it, god knows what this abortion is like.

But yeah, the True Crime games were dogshit. However the last one came out in 2005, so they've had plenty of time for that to not matter any more. Maybe. The video looks good, damn it!

The Gamespot review makes it sound excellent (much more excellent than the 8 out of 10 rating they give it actually, but who cares about the numbers) so I've added it to The List. So expect comments from me about it sometime in 2015.

One can look forward to quick time events of "didging the contents of a shoe cupboard", "Press A to maintiain a look of real interest whilst anecdotes about people you don't know are being told" and "branching conversations about if you actually want to go to a wedding or not".

Someone should bring a chapter into the game where right at the start, you tell your wife that you are going to a music quiz on a set date. Then two weeks beforehand, you confirm to your friend, whilst in conversation with your wife that you are going to said quiz. Then the week beforehand, you reconfirm this in conversaion with your wife present, and also discuss where you will eat beforehand. Then the day before the quiz you refer to it, and your wife expresses surprise that this is the first time that she has heard of the quiz.

You complete the chapter the day after the quiz if you manage to convince your wife, while wearing a winners medal, holding a mix CD and sporting an astronomical hangover that you actually went to a quiz and didn't spend the evening sat on the sofa with her.

Fuck it, that sounds far too difficult to complete even on Novice.

I was going to post some thoughts, but fucked you all off while I smashed people's faces in. The combat really is quite fun, and very Batman-like. The driving is shit, but I'm hoping it'll get better. I like it a lot so far, but have only put an hour or two into it.
