I know, because I tried some.

I miss the happy gas from the dentist when I was a lad. Having to drive home myself these days has put a stop to all that... :(

Stopped altogether now isn't it at Dentists? A couple of fatalities in the 80's IIRC.

My local place does sedation, which by the canister in the corner I took to mean happy gas.

Yeah, I should have said I think it needs to be administered by an Anaesthetist not just by the dentist/nurse.

Makes sense, dentists seem to make a big deal about being able to do it these days, so I assume it's because they have someone qualified to do it on the premises and they shout about it, to get their money back :D

Either way, I miss flying round the room :D

Jeez Gaz, that sounds like quite a spate of bad luck there, mate.

It is very good news that it wasn't a stroke and they're just keeping her in for the formalities of observation etc. Good news that your Dad is improving, too. I hope he gets out an home soon :)

Look after yourself dude.

Geez Gazchap, hope your parents both mend quickly!

My nay for today concerns my brother, who underwent laser eye surgery in a clinic in Harley Street on Wednesday. Poor chap has been in excrutiating pain ever since. I actually had to drive him to his appointment today with him wearing sunglasses and a towel over his head, so sensitive is he to light at the moment. It's safe to say he's not having much fun. What little I've seen of his eyes since he had the op have been massively swollen and inflamed. It's put me right off having anything similar done myself, I'll stick to the bloody glasses thanks.

I'm now wearing contacts I don't have to take out for a month. I have astigmatism so they are the expensive ones at £40 for 3 months. Totally comfortable and kind of strange being able to see 24/7.

Last night my daughter decided it would be a good idea to facebut her brothers knee, cue one bloody nose. We phoned NHS direct and for the first time ever they put us straight through to a nurse (rather than calling back after an hour like they usually do) because of her age and site of the injury...

Luckily it doesn't look too serious, but apparently we are too expect it to bleed again over the next few days, and to pinch the septum if it does! Which seems a tad odd!

Oh and I had the most excruciating headache on Tuesday evening/Wednesday, which is why I haven't been on since then!

Sorry to hear about everyone elses nays, mine are only trivial in comparison!

Malc

Really? I thought you always pinched the septum for a nosebleed? Probably hurt like hell though with a bruised nose.

I thought the septum was the bit in the middle of the nose.

I've always thought you pinched the bridge of the nose?

That's not too is it? £40 for 3 months? I keep forgetting to order more contact lenses so I'm wearing glasses at the moment, it doesn't really bother me though, except in the shower and when I'm putting my face on.

Minor not-even-worth-talking-about 'Nay', but it's bothering me a little, like an insect buzzing at night when you're in bed and you're worried might land on your face.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
So I'm going to see the specialist next week, the boob one. I'm not all that bothered about it because I'm sure that it'll be fine and they won't find anything sinister and that's been my thought on it from the start, really. There's no point worrying about what it 'might' be when it's most likely to be nothing. So I haven't been, not at all, it's all more of an inconvenience than anything else. But then at the start of the week I began thinking about it a little more, dangerous I know, like what the lump actually could be, I think it was because with the letter they sent a leaflet explaining all the tests they might have to do to find out exactly what the lump is because they like to give you your results on the day. And then there was the slight creeping doubt, what if it was Something? Not because I'm worried about that, per se, I haven't thought about what happens if it is something because like I said, what's the point worrying? I can deal with that stuff if I need to. I was just struck by the sudden realisation that I hadn't prepared myself at all for any news other than 'It's nothing, you can go home now'. So I rang Ramsea and told him he better be able to leave work early that day if I need him to, I think if I rang him and he couldn't come and get me, that'd feel worse than anything else. Not that it'll come to that but just in case.

flis - it will almost certainly be nothing bad, but it's really OK to worry a bit. Seeing doctors for anything worries me, even if it is just for a scan, and I should be used to them, still I allow myself to worry about it a bit. Huggles all the way.

Malc: nosebleeds in children are almost always from the septum due to the structure of a child's nose. You can pinch the septum directly or by holding the nostrils tight against it. Adults can bleed from higher in the nose cavity, but children very rarely do.

I have a worry that I've got a deviated septum: either from allergic rhinitis, or MrsA grabbing my nose and shaking me violently in an effort to get someone to guess 'Snorkelling' during a particularly boozy game of 'Cranium'. Either way, one nasal passage is 1/3rd the width of the other. Cranium sucks.

I have a deviated septum. The doctor considered fixing it when he was operating on my sinuses, but couldn't be bothered.

Another day, another TWO job rejections.

The one just received was for a job I really wanted, and was down to the last 2 people, but despite receiving purely positive feedback I don't get it because they're putting recruitment of the role on hold for a few months due to only recently having brought on board the person I'd be reporting to, and them needing more time to ebd in. Yeah, nice timing on working that out with the recruitment process, people!

:'(

It's actually MORE annoying that it's not my fault. Grrrrrr.

Next one needs me to do a 15 minute presentation before an interview with the CRO.

I was kinda hoping to avoid having to do that, but needs must.

To qualify the last clause: it's struck me that you work hard and do a good job from the conversations we've had. On re-reading, it comes over as slightly patronising.

Stupid windows is blue screening with a complaint about a driver trying to corrupt the system. I'm very glad that it's halting before damage is done, but it would be lovely if it gave any indication of which driver is the problem!

I have had a weekend to calm down... I was in court on Friday to resolve access with Kov Junior..

My CAFCAS office is off on maturity leave, so I have a new office, who did not do his job properly (he had a 5 min conversation with me), so I now have an extra hour a week...

I am fuming, what a waste of a morning, I now need a final hearing with a barrister.

Yay is I now get an extra hour! But it cost a fortune to do so.
