We must make it our mission to have Port and Cheese to round off the evening after our Mr Dave spit roast.

You're coming for dinner on the Friday with whoever I've mustered together, right? Oh shit, that should be in the other thread!!!

It depends what's decided upon. Miss Malabar is fussy to the point of making eating not fun.

I didn't invite her though did I? If Curio can leave his wife in another city on her birthday for a weekend, surely you can leave your wife in a hotel room with a bag of crisps for a couple of hours on one of her 364 non-birthdays?

Dave: current list is me, myp, ange, wullie and anyone else who decides to turn up at mine on friday (throughsilver?, nikachu?), malabar when he grows a dick and... you?

Yes, my Bell Brie and Gooch Gouda have been quite the talking point of many of my diner parties.

I'm around that night at the premier inn, so joining would be good, if feasable. Given I don't know where the place you're eating is (or even the place I'm staying)

If it's the Portland Street Premier Inn then you're within 5 minutes of it... 10 if you're a slow walker.

I'll stay at your house if the offer is still open, Bik. Is there room for me to have an airbed (which I will bring)? Is there somewhere to park my car nearby if I drive?

Author:  BikNorton [ Wed Jan 13, 2010 15:01 ]
Post subject:  Re: Be Excellent to Each Other in Manchester

Hooray!

Er. There's probably parking. I've only been to the house once, for 20 minutes, at 4pm on a Thursday. There should be space for an airbed somewhere. It's 2 up, 2 down but they're really fucking small 2s.

Anyone else: I'll probably have a mattress by then, which means I should have a spare airbed.

It is. I'm a quick walker, so sounds like you can add me to your list of eating chums.

Ok cool, I'll let you know if and when I can turn up. Still undecided, but Im not spending £120 on a hotel room.

I've just had a play around on the Premier Inn site. It seems you can stay for any of the following combinations for our Manchester meet:

  • Friday
  • Friday & Saturday
  • Sunday
  • Friday, Saturday & Sunday

but not:

  • Saturday
  • Saturday & Sunday

Daft.

I said they might be. We had the same issue trying to stay in Nottingham, and the first thing you get when you phone up is an automated reservation system that tells you the same thing. A real person might actually be trained to take your money, but we just ended up staying somewhere else (which wasn't the best of plans, really).

I can't help but think you all booking hotel rooms for this is a waste of cash, unless paying all that money for maybe five hours' sleep before the mandatory checkout at 11am is your idea of value for money.

My idea of value for money is having a bed to sleep on within staggering distance of the places I'll be getting drunk in for two nights.

What would you suggest we do? Rough it for two nights, or cram even more people into 0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13's house? Or stay in a shitty youth hostel?

I've never spent any decent amount of time in a hotel, but I'm bloody glad of having a bed at the end of the night. It works out at £29 or so a night, and that's nothing.
