He's been his own wife ever since I told him to go fuck himself.

Landed on his feet with that saucepot.

I'm not reading 29 pages.

Someone just inform me what this meal is about, why it costs so much, would I have to attend? etc

The expensive meal is just Gaywood showing off to Fanny Stupid - it is not mandatory. if you would like to go to a cheaper meal, a few of us are going to Genghis Khans. That is also not mandatory.

They are both happening on the Friday. The proper meet is happening on the Saturday once we decide which pub to meet up at.

No, the expensive meals I'm taking her to in San Francisco and Chicago later this month are me showing off. This is more about me getting to sit down and eat some good food with Craster and Curio, which we did last time I was in London and was most excellent fun.

Curio, are you really going to a nerdfest at the opposite end of the country when it's your wife's birthday? Really?

Yes.

I did invite her, but she doesn't want to come, because you smell.

And you're still coming? And you have your testicles still intact?

What have you done with our Maria?!

She seemed perfectly nice, and not prone to sudden bollock removal all the times I've met her. So I blame myself.

Sailsbury, clearly.

Salisbury! That's it! I've been trying to remember the name of that pub for bloody weeks!

And last time I saw Maria she did look at me several times like bollock-chopping-off was an option she was considering. But then, such is my way with people.

I like the Cornerhouse bar, but am aware many may not.

I only ever went in once, mostly I gaze in longingly through the windows. The time I did go in I felt a little out of place among the genteel theatre crowd so necked my drink and moved across the road to Copper Face Jacks, which may or may not still exist.

Sure you don't mean Grand Central? The one right next to it? Or even the Thirsty Scholar? Both of those two play much louder music. GC especially. It's a right pain at times.

Bonuses of going to the Sailsbury is that most of the people who go there look like Craster/Grim.

I mean the Salisbury. I was surprised because if I wanted loud I'd have gone to Grand Central. I don't think I've been in the Thirsty Scholar since I was 18, and the only reason I drank in there before was because I COULD drink in there before.

I used to go to the Cornerhouse every week. My absolute favourite cinema by miles.

My main request, bar-wise, is the ability to chat to people. If I wanted to go to a place far too noisy to chat, I could do that at a fraction of the price, and the only difference is that Zardoz wouldn't be leching all over me. Which would be preferable.

Yeah, I don't want to end up in a doss hole with "bangin' choons" playing loudly while all we can do is nod at each other and smile as multicoloured lights bounce off our nightmarish, garish faces.

Copper Face Jacks!

Now that brings back some memories.

I can't believe that it's now a decade since I lived in Manchester.

They have retro arcade games here:

Nice little pub. Slightly geeky.

I might come to this but I am quiet and shy and scared of real people.

The Lass isn't bad. It was always deadish when I went in. (is it the one that does kangeroo burgers?)

You could always go to Sandbar/The Pub - or is that too far away from the city centre?

Nah, the lass is nearly always busy. I like it.

Can I suggest that Manchester folks do a recon of the various pubs on a Saturday night and choose a suitable one?

Myp should go up and do it, as he's organising it ;)

Myp should stay sober and hire a minibus to transport everyone around.

I probably can do, actually.

-edit- to Craster, obv.

Zardoz is best.

I was seriously thinking about coming to this event, but fell over and fractured my leg in two places on Monday which has put a bit of a kibosh on all my Q1 plans for '10. Sad face.

Ta. The terribly moreish morphine as supplied by the heroic A&E guys helped, but am now stuck in bed with my leg in the air in a heavy plaster cast chain dropping codeine and biscuits.

Also, I just had a random idea: A Mr. Chris 'magic 8-Ball' machine, where whatever it says you do the opposite.

I'm not sure what time the smelly Stockport crew will be joining us, but rest assured that those booked into the Manchester centre Premier Inn will definitely be partaking of a pub in the afternoon. And possibly also food. Maybe a curry. I dunno, we're there all day though!
