Oh well now I'm jealous.

In other news, Mrs Z may not be going out for that long tonight, I will play as much BF as I can though.

Always get your hopes up, don't they! Miss Malabar is supposed to be going out with her friends from work as it's her last day there. No doubt the thing will be cancelled and I'll have to cancel my gaming plans.

Hah. I'm trying to avoid that now. A few nights of < 4 hours' sleep has destroyed me.

Well after going to bed last night I had a 20 minute spell of just seeing the game in my head, so I came back downstairs and had another couple of hours on it.

Well after I played last night I made sandwiches for work in dim light and only today after eating half of them, realised the bread was quite green in places.

Horrible sniping slut! The number of times you were the only spawn point available and I'd spawn on you only to land on a cliff side, hidden behind a shrub and actually further away from the objective than I would've been had I spawned at the spawn point must've been at least, er, four.

Good game, though! My battery ran out on my stupid wireless headset thing. :(

Y'know what? Why haven't I played on that night time snowy map since the day I got the game? I was checking last night and it's definitely one of the Rush maps, but it hasn't came up in the rotation in any of the games I've played with you lot either last night or the night before, but I have played, for example, the jungle one like four times. Is it just coincidence or is that map just never on?

oh I had fun last night after you lot went to bed. Me and a couple of others got the chopper at the start of the map with the lighthouse on and kept it alive til the 4th bases, was pretty fun just flying around dodging missiles and then when taking a hit fly back to safety and let the engineer in the back fix it up for us to go cause havoc again! :D

It's proving remarkably easy to get a couple of squads of 4 into a game. This I like. It's rather telling that despite that being the required amount for a private game, no-one even suggested it.

Oh, and Dimrill. Team kills don't count.

How long does it take to get your stats on battlefield.com? It's irritatingly showing as 0 for ages now.

Had another excellent evening playing this, including a truly insane rush round (Nelson Pass map, or something like that) where it got so intense as defenders we were reduced to broadcasting Aliens quotations at each other ('Stay frosty', 'You're not reading it right', 'RIPLEEEY!', 'You want some of this? Fuck you!', 'They're coming out of the goddamned walls!' etc).

Obviously it helps if you've seen Aliens fifty times.

Absolutely awesome game, I'd be inclined to say it's the best multiplayer ever, overtaking Quake 2, CounterStrike 1.6, and BF2142 in my personal hall of fame.

There's not much teamwork to be done with a squad of three snipers and me.

None of us play recon (sniper), one of us was doing it but the game is awash with them and it's a pretty negative class anyway, especially when the attacking side is full of snipers (hence the 'pursue your objectives' rule on our server).

We've all unlocked enough stuff to play well as assault, medic or engineer, and we just compose our squad as the game demands, although my preferred class is medic with the M60 and magnum ammo upgrade, it's fucking deadly.

Dave there's plenty of teamwork to be done with a squad of snipers + medic

Attacking medic heals snipers and revives snipes thus saving tickets. Snipers clear path for everyone else to attack and defend the M-com stations. works a treat!

I'm far from convinced. The times we've been torn entirely to shreds have rarely been against a team of snipers. It's usually been swarms of assault/medics + engineers as vehicles require. The times we've won have usually had a similar makeup. It's rather telling that yesterday, with a side of mostly snipers, we didn't win a single game. One man alone will find it very hard to get to a guarded charge. A group can. Yesterday, as everyone was being a dirty sniper, there were times we never even got near the charge. Because most people weren't even trying to push forward, being content to sit back and kill defenders, despite that doing nothing to win the game. The times I did get near the charge, I couldn't do anything with it as my squad weren't going to spawn with me to help, and they didn't have good enough line of sight to support me from a distance.

Yesterday, when we had a more balanced squad, I managed to clear out a group of 5 people in about 2 seconds. No sniper is going to manage that in a suitably timely fashion. To get that level of support, you'd need 5 snipers. I was only one man. And then provided the useful function of reviving a couple of teammates actually within spitting distance of the m-com station, which we took fairly swiftly.

I've nearly reached the end of unlocking class based stuff, recon aside. Only 2 medic guns, 3 engineer guns and 1 engineer specialisation to go. (Most of the recon class, too, but I'll probably only properly start on that when I get the G3 or something similar for it)

I found the last two or three assault and medic guns to be pretty disappointing, certainly nothing to tempt me away from the awesome M60 as medic - still deciding on my favourite assault gun though.

Got my knife gold star last night as well, that's the best thing about dirty sneaky snipers, they're so busy being dirty and sneaky that it's really easy to walk up to them and stab them in the head.

I got three in the space of twenty seconds last night :DD (Usual story, they were on the attacking side on rush, but being the yellow snipers that they are they were hiding near their base, probably kidding themselves that they were laying down 'covering fire' and not just, for instance, being cowardly fucking point whores. One flanking moving manoeuvre later I found three of them in a line, all hiding behind the same bush - STAB STAB STAB, three dead fucktards.)

With the magnum ammo upgrade (unlocks at Level 15) you just point it in the general direction of the bad guys and wait for everyone to die :D

It's actually accurate enough to not need to scope a lot of the time either.

In fact, it's so effective that I go medic with the M60 where I'd normally go assault (attacking on rush for example).

Firing from the hip is much more accurate in this game than it is in mw2 which is nice because I do that fairly often. I discovered earlier that I know how to fly a helichopper which is useful.

Use those helicopter skillz to plant a UAV into an enemies face. Very rewarding.
