Dorian Gray is an appalling, abominable (and extraordinarily boring) mess. Do not watch.

No, not even because you think I might be wrong.

Just don't. It's the worst film I've ever paid to watch, and in fact so far as I can remember the worst film I've ever watched ever.

Cheers, was going to watch it next week, but won't now.

I don't know!

Pretty darn good I'd say. Plenty of action and a half decent story.

I watched Semi-Pro over the weekend.

It's a Will Ferrell sports comedy. If you like Will Ferrell sports comedies, then you'll like this Will Ferrell sports comedy. It's no Talledega Nights, but it sits comfortably with Blades of Glory.

Dorian Gray looked awful when I saw a trailer a while back. It looked very much like they'd made him straight, which would be enough for me to vomit until I bled internally. I've avoided it since on the off-chance that my vague suspicion is accurate.

It's exactly that reason that I'm cautiously avoiding it. I suspect they may have sneaked in a surfing scene and a jive talking animal into it too.

His mangina diving is implied in the book rather than in full detail isn't it? Hollywood only likes gay cowboys who get beaten to death anyways, so he'd have to be a straightzor.

It's all implied, but he only mentions loving a lady explicitly. At least, that's how Wikipedia has refreshed my memory of the book - it's many years since I read it.

Furthermore, the the movie isn't a straight version of the book, but an expanded one - and expanded well, to my mind.

It's also scary, funny and full of boobs and blood and gore.

As I said earlier in the thread, it's very much a Hammer version of the story, rather than Merchant Ivory or whoever.

And Colin Firth is excellent.

He has a flamboyant obsession with one of them as an actress, but when he finds out she's not an actress, but a woman, he scorns her. Their romantic relationship basically only existed in her head. Half the point of the book was that he descended into vice and raging man-bumming (then considered a vice, natch). Were there even any other women in the book?

You'd better have watched Evil Dead 2 seeing as though you have time to watch one film 4 times.

Christopher Nolan is one of the few directors that I really like every single one of his films.

The Coen brothers are the only other ones I can think of.

But it has a creepy guy in it!

I dunno, the ending is a little filmy, but I enjoyed the characters, and it made me laugh quite a few times (I don't know if it was supposed to).

Too bad Nolan his wasting his talent with Batman. And no, The Dark Knight is not a masterpiece and doesn't deserve 9.0 on imdb.

The Coen brothers also had their share of missteps, but i loved Burn After Reading.

Last movies i saw:

The Lost Boys: I loved this when i was a kid and i convinced my girlfriend to watch it with me. Still good fun.

Los Abrazos Rotos: Latest Almodovar movie, and he can't make bad films. This has the bonus of having some quality breasts showing.

I loathe the new Batman films. Yes, Heath Ledger was good. The films are utter rubbish though. Gotham's does not look like a normal modern 'merican city for fucks sake.

I enjoyed them. I only watch superhero films in isolation though, I have no real attachment to the few comic books I have read and so no real views about how things are meant to be. I just thought it quite good fun.

Pro-tip, if Doc G knows you're watching The Usual Suspects for the first time don't look at your phone.

In other news, District 13 was entertaining rubbish & The Graduate is a strange but enjoyable one.

He's very hit and miss indeed. Adam McKay directing is usually a sign of quality.
