As you all may recall, I finished my job yesterday due to my contract coming to an end.

Yesterday morning I went for an interview and I've just found out that I've got the job! They want me to start as soon as next week so that is good news.

And no... It's not an April fools joke. :D

That's a massive weight off my mind and it means I can play my Xbox this evening guilt free, knowing that I don't have to look for jobs online.

Also.. Russ gave me a brilliant pep talk in one of the threads I was moaning about not having a job so Russ, thanks. I owe you one! You helped me more than you'll ever know.

So, so very well done. You should celebrate with more than just Xbox time. You have an awesome weekend and good luck in your new job!!!

Post subject:  Re: The 'Yay!' thread

I ordered a new monitor from John Lewis. It arrived and there was a paper cover over the screen so I left it on there, fitted the stand and then set it all up plugging everything in and routing the cables all neatly.

Then I peeled off the paper and there were four huge scratches on the screen itself. One was so bad that at the end was a stringy bit with the plastic that had been gouged from the screen :( I phoned John Lewis immediately and they told me to email pics to technical support. The next morning the phone rang and it was John Lewis and they arranged to collect the damaged monitor. He said that I would hear about the delivery of the new one later. I then followed the correct RMA procedure and filled in the back of the original delivery receipt with the RMA number he emailed me. However, I read the terms and conditions and it said that basically they don't send the replacement until they have received the damaged item back. Fuck ! :( what made it worse was that in the mean time I had sold my fucking monitor and shipped it out so now I have no monitor.

Any way this morning as he told me I would I received an email from DPD saying that they were collecting between 12:56 and 1:56 PM. Then about two minutes later I received another email telling me DPD would be delivering between 3:12 and 4:12 PM. A bit confused I phoned John Lewis and the replacement is coming today.

Yay !*

*I hope that's not too early. I also bought an external sound card because I could not hook up the front audio sockets on Mrs JC's computer and it too arrived damaged.

Sod's law I sold my old 4k monitor for £200 plus postage (it cost me £515) as no courier now will insure monitors (the price was low to reflect the risk the buyer had to take) and the fucking thing arrived in pristine condition lmao. Still though that's another yay, as it's out of my hair now.

My wife went out for a few hours last night, so Sods law kicks in and my son is standing up in his bed shouting for his mum and taking his clothes off :)

So I go up and straight away he is "want daddy bed" so we go on our bed and read some books

Then my wife calls (she was been watching events on her phone via the monitor) and tells me to read him some books for 15 mins and put him back down

2 hours later she comes back to find us still in the bed giggling and messing around :D

He went to sleep for her in 5 mins, she is not happy as he has school today. Have to say best 2 hours I've had for a long time though!

At the West of England Game Fair 2016! I hit half my targets ( 6 out of 12 ), which I thought was pretty good seeing as I'd never held a shotgun before. A BASC instructor at their stand gave me a beginners lesson, which was fun. Definitely going to do it again.

Largely, yes. But also quite a lot of
DO NOT aim gun at instructors face.
DO NOT aim gun at own face.
DO NOT hurl loaded gun at clays
DO NOT hold loaded gun by barrel and use as primitive club to attack clays
DO NOT call it a rifle
DO NOT turn up with a over-and-under at a grouse shoot, you bloody peasant.

I was stood in the back garden (wearing shorts, a hawaiian shirt and wearing flip flops) of a methodist preacher's (big Thatchwr fan) house in the arse end of Iowa nursing a heavy hangover (and having just ridden "the tamer horse" he had about a bit) in 100 degree heat when he produced a shotgun (unregistered) and got his 9 year old to throw old crockery in the air to shoot. It was fucking loud, and I missed but a large bit of tree fell down because we weren't using shot. Ah, America.
