right I'm calling it, the new DLC is absolute fucking shit.

it's the worst kind of grind and, like a cunt, I've actually bought it.

fun at first, gets old very quickly and then outstays its welcome like you wouldn't believe.

I've just started playing this game, and I'm shit. The cars are undriveable, anything else is my fault I'm sure, probably because I'm using the wrong weapons and stuff. What happens if you have to respawn but have run out of money?

The cars go the way you're facing. They're incredibly easy.

Yep. I get confused when cars don't control like that in 3rd person views like that these days. Halo was the first I encountered with those controls; was there anything earlier?

I don't think Flid has played Halo and he's played a lot of GTA/Saints Row, so I can understand why it's a bit discombobulating. I had a similar issue with the Warthogs in the first Halo until I'd got used to it.

At that time, FPSs where you could get into vehciles were pretty new, so I'd guess no. I certainly remember that being one of the main talking points of Halo when it was still scheduled for a PC release.

I think it comes down to the crosshair. If there's one present, I expect Halo controls. Controlling the tanks in Mercs 2 confused the fuck out of me, having to control the camera, drive and turret independently.

Yeah, especially with the different vehicles all controlling in different ways.

Going from mercs 2 to GTA IV was worse - I couldn't work out why 'Y' wouldn't let me steal the helicopters.

I take it you were off punching the walls and swearing, and hence didn't get my message as I wanted to join your game last night.

This game was rather enjoyable.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
The final boss was really stupid. Soldier whats-her-face opens the Mega-Door, and The Unspeakable One gets his stupid fat face stuck in it and can't move.

I hold down the machine pistol button until the game ends. Golly.

The 'surmount this challenge' beastie on the Trash Coast was more of an event, and that also fell over (and later simply disappeared?) from a few machine pistol magazines.

I think it's because I AM ACE at sorting guns. And I'm also really good at clicking on people.

This game needs a gun Pokédex. I want to know which guns I've seen, which ones I've used the most, how many of each thing I've killed, and stuff like that.

I have to agree that

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
The end boss was a piss-easy anticlimax. An easier fight than dealing with the skating ice sculpture dudes on the way up.

The end boss was utter shite, and so was the ending itself. "Hey, you found the key, but you're too late. Give it to me anyway, and I'll give you a bit of money!"

Yeah I finished the game yesterday and the end is balls, the whole game your working towards getting to the vault, you get there and your not allowed in it. I thought the voice acting this was pretty good especially since the developers voiced most of it.

Kung fu metadimensional glass-like bastards* and their super far away snipery friends** stopping my shield from recharging. Bah!

* Who scoot over to you at light speed from THE MOON and have a weak point that's vaguely 'on their face-stalk so just shoot the whatever'.
** Though not far enough for my automatic weapons, which had all pretty much become the same super-long magazine, super accurate, super damaging, scoped 'thing' by this point.

Not as bad as the boss fight against the leader of the bandits on the massive crane thingy. I slipped through a crack between two boards and landed on some of the framework below it. I couldn't jump back up, so I had to find a way to hurl myself beyond the invisible walls and take the $7% penalty from crossing the instant death boundary.

I found one Eridian gun in the entire game and it sucked.

There's way too much faffing about going from place to place. Phasewalk was very useful in this regard. I was lucky and managed to acquire most of the quests in each place all at once, so I could kill all the enemies for all of the quests at once while I was a low level, so I got more exp, and then turn in all the quests when I was done, so I ended up constantly three levels ahead of where I was 'meant' to be.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
The Destroyer was Level 33. Oooh!

There are two Eridian guns*. The shooty-in-an-arc one in the canyon, and the big plasma cannon one you get off the fight with the 3 Crimson dudes in the big hangar.

*That I know of

Are they not all randomly generated, like the rest? I had a rifle and, while it packed a punch, it was slow to fire and incredibly slow to recharge. I didn't bother with it much.

The dollopy one I don't think is, because it's one of the secret chests that the claptraps guide you to. The big fuck-off one isn't either, because you get it from the Crimson Wossname dude in the bossfight where he's shooting at you with it.

Attention!

I now have this game on Eggsbox. Not played it yet though. Anyone starting out who's up for co-opping this weekend? :)

And how is it single player? Is it like L4D, ie: Not near as fun on your own?

I really haven't missed Borderlands since I started playing ODST.

I'll get around to finishing it at some point but it just faded away like a dry fart into a cushion.

I'd be up for a game of this (especially if anyone else has got the 2nd DLC)...I've just realised I've not indulged in any bezzie action for months.

This, and it probably only took about a week to fizzle. It's not bad, it's just... bland I guess is the right word.

Us three. I agree with them. Playing with people at the same point in the story as me -- The Egg and Grim... -- was more satisfying than playing with people who knew the levels backwards -- yourself, Perkies.

Looks like I'm going to have to announce my retirement from co-op online sessions too now, due to being a massive game ruining cunt.

I don't know the game backwards, I only know the opening bit backwards and that's because people who want to play tend to be at the beginning bits and then after we play for a while they then go away and never play again. My poor Siren is STILL stuck halfway through the New Haven bits, for example.

It's worth pointing out that, having seen the ending, the story is complete gibberish, best ignored and not that good. Just rollick through the missions having fun blowing things up, finding new guns, and swearing.

But I suppose if I ever play it with anyone again I'll just not say a peep and let them blunder through ahead while I follow behind, head bowed. In contrast to alb1nz0eroeoroe who seemed grateful for my help in defeating Sledge.

I think part of my problem with it is that the game is a bit lifeless at times without someone else to play through with.

Oh, and Pete, we're gonna need your gamertag in order to play with you.

Borderlands: the game that won't go the fuck away.
