Ooh. That's a good idea.

Michael Caines at the Abode is tempting me...

Is that the Alfie-resco place that not a lot of people know of?

Mmm. The tasting menu sounds rather good.

Clearly, I'm not about to invite myself for dinner as a third wheel with you and Mrs Curio! But if anyone else wants a Foodie Minimeet on the Friday night I'd be up for that.

The 99 quid deal for a room and 3 course meal is pretty darn good too. For a posh gaff.

Michael Caines does do an excellent tasting menu. We had the one at Gidleigh Park earlier in the year and it was the best food I've ever eaten.

The problem with that is that you end up not having anywhere to do anything post-pub. If your place is big enough, it would be ideal for people to gather there pissed and destructive after the pubs close, then be able to fuck off by cab (if such a magical thing exists) or on foot (if it's near enough) to their nearby lodgings.

Plus we need somewhere to eat Malabar's icecream.

Yeah, I think Stockport is the best bet as if we all pile into taxis it'll be pence to get back to there from Manc.

If there's some sort of common travel arrangement for us london types, and some kind of cool hotel to gater in, I'dmove myself to the almost certain pile. Travel is less of a concern than hotelage though.

The problem with that is that you end up not having anywhere to do anything post-pub.

Post-pub would be going somewhere else that has music and stuff, amirite? :S Even if it's just somewhere like Fab Cafe (opened by someone from Blakes Seven no less)...

Soooo......what's the plan regarding what we're actually going to do in Manchester? It's going to come down to flight prices for me and they vary quite a bit (from affordable to 'I could go to Tenerife for a week for that') and very much depends on the time of day. Is it going to be an early afternoon thing or a late evening thing?

I'd be happy to split the cost of a hotel room with anyone who is willing, although I can see where that might cause problems....

The Fab Cafe is about as good a compromise as you're likely to get. Plus it has a full sized dalek in it. Well, it did in my day, and I'd be surprised if they'd removed it.

The plan is: those who want to/can afford to book rooms in the Stockport Premier Inn, buddy up and do so. Those who can't/don't want to are welcome to crash at Alberto's.

You can either show up mid-afternoon at Skid's house (with ice cream), or meet us at the Fab Cafe in Manchester later on (times to be confirmed).

We shall then drink until we are sated, then get taxis back to 081 811 8181's house for more drinking/Xbox/Techno/Duvet singing combos until the hotel lot bugger off for sleep.

It depends on how people feel on Sunday, but perhaps we could get breakfast somewhere locally before everyone leaves.

How does that sound?

Aye, I've only just bloody typed out the plan, though. It'll go in the first page when some people have actually commented on it and agreed it's a reasonable idea.

I need a list of ice cream flavours to make, too. I'm not sure how much I'll make, given it takes me two days per litre, but I'll try to get four or five tubs of it if I can.

Must buy more vodka, too. There's a lot of booze in these ice creams. Also: sugar.
