I'm bored at work, so I've actually started considering making plans for this. As I see it.

1) "Going out" will be in Manchester itself, and will consist of matters as yet undefined
2) Lots of people will try and squeeze their way into Abalone Kraut's flat afterwards
3) Other people will stay in Manchester in a hotel of some description.

Is this right?

Yeah.

There will be a KLEEEK and Sub Kleek divide at some point. The main party will revolve around me, natch.

Let me know if you find a hotel. Get one with a car park nearby ;)

How about we stay out as late as humanly possible (8pm in my case), then all pile back to someone's hotel room for a bit, then anyone who wants to stay up a bit longer or wants to sleep and hasn't booked a hotel can come back to Alberto's?

You'd think I'd be more excited about that. In the end I only rang because of having increasingly strong second thoughts about the whole thing.

Well I don't know, you tell me! This is the meet you've organised the tits off, remember! Also, I'm getting the impression that Um Bongo's place is 4'x8' and there's about 20 people signed up to come so far.

Surely someone as organised as myp would have placed this vital information into the first post of the thread?

In other news, the missus is getting cold feet about coming, as she might not want to spend her birthday surrounded by geeks she barely knows. However, if Riles and his wife can be persuaded to come then she's up for it.

That's what I was thinking, but I looked and it wasn't there. I assume this is just an oversight.

Myp, can I please see a floorplan of TheFlidKid's place, and a seating plan for the formal dinner? I assume this will be black tie?

In reckon, between a double bed, a double-ish sofa bed and floor there is room for 7 at mine as a minimum. If you don't mind putting your sleeping bag down in the kitchen or hallway or something weird then we could probably push it up to double figures.

But yes, it would split the group up somewhat, which is not ideal. My place is really aimed at those who are too cheap/skint to afford hotel costs and/or those who want to come down early on the Saturday or stay and cock around on the Sunday in a way which might not fit in with the "you can't come in yet" and "everyone out now!" policies of hotel checkout protocol.

Also, I should flag up to people that my gaff is actually in Stockport, so a 15-20 minute train ride into Manchester if you come to mine first to ditch stuff, and a decent sized taxi journey back after (cost not an issue with a full cab). If those factors put you off begging for crash space, then thank fucking God for that.

The logical answer is a block booking of rooms in the Premiere Inn at Stockport then, surely?

It's AN answer, certainly. There's a danger you might encounter actual denizens of Stockport though, which would really be a blow. Probably quite literally.

If we come, chances are we'll hotel it up and stay on the Friday night also, possibly stopping by some posh restaurant for din-dins.

For the price of a posh meal in London, you can buy a restaurant in Manchester.

Yes, let's do that, then. I don't mind booking it, but if they want a deposit I'll need your cash up front.

Last few times I used them there was no deposit but they wanted a card at booking time (to charge you if you didn't show up). Probably best to let people do their own bookings.

We'd need to decide between one of the Stockport ones and one in Manchester itself. The former would work better if people might go back to Albert0's place between pub(s) and sleepytime. Which of them is closest to his gaff?

You got my postcode already :p

Undoubtedly the Stockport one though. But if you're doing it en masse and planning on making it party central then really Manchester would be the better bet for you all and sack all thought of Stockport off completely (obv super-cheapskates and cool dudes still welcome before/after/during)
