Did I mention I'd finished Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet?

Quirky. Declious visuals. Tactile. Loads to do and explore. Atmospheric. Some nice puzzels to break up the shooting, exploding and sawing. Just the right length for those who don't have loads of time - say, about 4 hours to finish it, collect most of the items and explore the whole map.

Only downside is that it's a little unchallenging.

Highly recommended.

Splinter Cell Conviction: Done.

Now onto Shadow Complex. After that I think I'm gonna finally tackle Red Dead before I move away a week on Tuesday. Oh, and then I think I'll christen my new telly with Ass Creed Brotherhood which I also need to finish. Then I'll allow myself to buy Deus Ex: HR. I'm a changed man!

When you say its "done" do you mean finished or you've got a 1000 gamerpoints from it and completed it 100%?

red dead is well overated btw :P

I've finished the campaign on the hardest setting. I can't be arsed maxing stuff any more unless it's really easy/I'm not going to get bored doing it. Cheevo whoring for the sake of gamer score just isn't fun!

I used to cheeve whore a few years back, playing games I didn't even like just to boost my points, now I only play em if I like em.

Who's got the biggest gamerscore on here then?

Not really sure any more... Dimrill and Blucey were streets ahead of everyone but neither is around any more. It might be Myp by a hair at 65k, there's a clump in the 55k-65k ballpark though (myself, Mr Dave, metalangel, trousers, runcle?). I'm not really a gamerscore whore though, I'm a completionist headwrong who must have as many achievements in a game as possible. This does cause some problems. Currently have 91.8% of achievements across all games I have played :nerd:

Blucey still posts here! He posts on a few forums though and I assume he forgets about each of them periodically, so he'll post for a week and then not come back for two!

Blucey was last on here on Friday and his score is 171135 , the top on my friends list is Dimril who's just under that at 165685 (then its a long drop down to the 50/60ks previously mentioned)

Ah, so he is still popping by on occasion. I think the *thread that shall not be named* has bumped this forum way down his list of places to stop by though.

My friends' list is a scary place for gamerscores, I seem to have become acquainted with some truly scary people. Chasing "Seriously" in Gears of War and "Warlord" in Far Cry 2, I suppose that is inevitable.

I finished Resistance: Fall Of Man. Really, really enjoyed it. I think it got a tough reception being a launch title for the PS3 but I thought it was pretty great. And it cost me £2.70. :DD

Shadow Complex is lovely , short only a few hours but a great game.
I'm still playing SC Conviction finishing off the co-op missions

Shadow Complex finished! Brilliant little Metroidvania thing. Not as good as Super Metroid or Symphony of the Night, but great fun nonetheless. Besides, those two are stone cold classics. I don't feel compelled to max it out and find all of the extras, but I do feel that way about SOTN - and I will at some point. But now to move onto Red Dead and find out why everyone loves it so much. I gave up once I got to Mexico. Gonna plough through this time.

Just finished Shadows of the Damned in time for it to get traded in on Friday for Deus Ex.

As said before, it was very "meh"

Didnt see no rape scene though?

Author:  Satsuma [ Tue Aug 23, 2011 22:15 ]
Post subject:  Re: No one finishes games anymore

Me neither. I never heard about a rape scene either though.

I think the RDR ending only works if you believe in the fiction. If you're not interested in what you're doing, skipping the talking and cut scenes you might be wondering what the fuss was about. It's less about the end and more about the final hour or two before you get there. I thought it was fantastic for the record but I did play nothing but RDR until I finished it. Mexico was a large dip in the narrative but even that has some decent missions and picks up towards the end. The start of the end, if you will.

Post subject:  Re: No one finishes games anymore

Well that's Lucid finished. I've been dipping in and out of games lately so it's nice to actually complete something.

I don't know if I'd recommend it at it's current price of £4.99 but it's worth picking up if it gets discounted. It's has 55 levels but just the one game mode. The early levels are the better ones where you're racking up massive scores and bonuses - on later levels, you've got no chance of that and it's just a case of struggling through to get to the next stage.

Oh I don't know I would put Shadow Complex up there with Metroid, SOTN & of course Batman Arkham Asylum :)

Finished Stranglehold. Brilliant but samey slow mo bullet fest. The best levels were the arenas that just throws wave after wave of the same villians at you. Pure arcade fun for a couple of hours or short bursts but no more. I still really enjoyed it though.

You're probably right - I think I would have gone insane with the plodding pace of it had I played it from the beginning (I started it from an old save with only four cities to go).
Maybe a C is fairer.

They fixed pretty much everything. I still loved AC1, but it was a massively flawed test of patience.

My standard comment at this point is: "I wish they AC2 game engine was used in the AC1 setting, as I much preferred the Jerusalem to Venice. Too many canals and rivers breaking up the city." I've played Brotherhood for about an hour and Rome is very promising. Weird to be parkouring over places that I've actually been and recognise.

360 gamertag is gospvg
BBC2 online is enjoyable although I am pretty crap at online shooters, I prefer to play as a medic in the squad & let everyone else get the kills.

Torchlight to be honest does is a repetitive game no change throughout the whole game, load a dungeon, grind through & collect loot. Rinse & repeat for all 35 levels.
