I was always tempted by the Wing Commander games when I was young... Any idea which one is the best?

I loved them all as a kid, 2 was my favourite, but 3 onwards brought in a lot more production value and 4 has most likely stood the test of time the best.

The original was best IMHO, I've played through it many times and the then-revolutionary story system doesn't interfere at all. WC2 by contrast didn't give me the same thrills. WC3 onwards it became an interactive movie with oodles of FMV and although it was now a proper 3D engine they didn't bother trying to make the flight feel as fluid as the X-Wing series.

Given it's story based you might as well start from the beginning. It still has a lot of charm.

You just missed the Microsoft offer for 25% off everything - i have a feeling if you bought something they then gave a code for 25% off other stuff which would probably get a years worth of live down to about £28 (if i can find a code you can have it)

There was a Jubilee code at the weekend - if you used it to buy anything you got another code "SUMMERSAVER" which will give 25% off (I think the Jubilee one was more) - that would get you 12 months from them for £31 which is not too bad ?

** edit ** £29.87 on Amazon

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-LIVE-Gold- ... 046&sr=8-1

** Edit2 **

This says in stock at £25 for 14 months (found via a link on Hotukdeals which said expired)

Indeed, although i'm not sure what else it comes with, and whether the headset is actually crappy, I just assumed it was...

£4.99 Arkham City download. (I hope that link works. Gamefly don't seem to like me perusing their UK catalogue any more. Racists.)

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
And no, it's not a Steam code. Yes, it works on Steam, but you have to "add non-Steam game". Will it be as cheap as this in the Steam summer sale in three weeks? Maybe.

Be careful - a lot of the dashboard deals are '£1 for a month(*)' and the (*) in little tiny writing says that if you dont cancel they will charge you £6.99 a month after that first one.

If your the type of person who can track and cancel things in time then great - if not you might be better buying the yearly sub.

Can't you just turn off the automatic renewal?

I got caught out recently. My card had expired and so I just left it until my membership finally reverted to Silver. I went and bought a code somewhere but it said that I couldn't redeem it until I had a valid payment method on there and as soon as I added one it renewed for another twelve months. The long and short of it is that I now have Gold until sometime in late 2014. :belm:

I was gonna sell it, but me plans changed.

You can cancel the auto-renewal & remove your card details easily enough now. It just nags you loads.

If you bought it already, you get them too.

If you buy it now, you have to beat the average price (roughly $8).

With those Steam deals, some will be cheaper in daily specials until June 10th, so don't buy anything with a miserly 50% discount until the last day! ;)

Edit: I've got an extra King Arthur lying around, if anyone wants it?

I've seen Sniper Elite V2 for £28 in a shop in Ashby. Just round the corner from where Ultimate Play The Game had their office, in fact.

Timotei, the best of all the shampoos and conditioners, is buy 1, get 2 free at Duperdrug. I love Timotei.

So, you can get 6 bottles for a total of £4. I bought six but wish I'd bought 12 :( A Mimi can only carry so many things at once, however.
