It's an ellipsis, not three full stops ;)

Bugger.

I'd had a long day, was coming down with some sort of throat thing, so decided not to go to the gym tonight. Intention was to have an early night. I'm now a bottle of wine in and tomorrow is going to be horrible.

Still, at least I'm not at the music quiz.

Yep. I kind of had an unofficial boycott going considering I won't install Origin (or Uplay for that matter) on PC, and they've not released any game on console that I've been interested in recently (considering they've ruined Battlefield and my interest in online shooters has waned in any case), but I may just make it official now.

The idea of having people email them with issues they're having is fair enough but that way of doing it is just so fucking awful and I really struggle to imagine anyone thinking it wouldn't just look like a terrible move on their part. I presume the difference between the iOS and Android versions is due to iOS not allowing them to fire up the system email app from within another app or something.

I've come up with a unit of monetary expense to use when people ask 'how much did you spend on (hobby thing)?' The HORL. The HORL is defined as the price of one hour of horse riding lessons from a reputable Riding School. It must be proper lessons, if in doubt check the website for a 'curriculum' or similar. Round here, it's 35 quid per half hour.

Usage:
'Hey Pundy, how much have you spent on gaming this year?'
'Less than 10 HORL!' (Less than 700 quid)

See, sounds much less, and doubles as a caution 'I could be doing something REALLY expensive!'

From that report

"3 months after release. Battlefield 4 works to a standard I'd expect from a boxed video game from a major publisher. The PS4 version is solid and reliable (although still hasn't done enough to fully earn my trust), and this game that once fired us up with promise and power is finally doing itself justice. EA's also still trying to salve the wound, kickstarting a player appreciation month running through February that piles rewards on to those active in the game. Too little too late? No, actually. That's the luxury of class. A lesser game would have died after 2 days of Battlefield 4's dilemmas, but such is the strength of the brand and the quality of the game under the crumbling rubble of mistakes that people will still play every day."

Sure it was a bit buggy to start with (even though I didn't personally experience anywhere close to the amount of problems other seemed to report) but it's pretty solid these days.

They have been pretty clear that the first game would not be (presumably because Microsoft have paid them vast sums of money to do this) however I do think that Titanfall 2 , or Titanfall EX or Titanfall Special edition will come out on the PS3 / PS4 at some point in the future.

I think this is being blown up a little, they are saying, "how do you like our game? Is it really good, in which case we don't need to do anything, or is it only okay? If it is okay, how can we improve it?" At no point are they forcing you to provide a 5 star review in the App store.

Plenty of 'good' EA games since then

Mirrors Edge / Mass Effect / Dragons Origin / Kingdoms of Alamur / Saboteur / The Sims / Battlefield / Plants Vs Zombies / Need for Speed / DeadSpace / Fifa / Madden / Syndicate

Just to name a few - however Best EA game would be something like

They're not forcing you, no. But the way that dialogue is presented means that to provide a less than five star review you have to lie to the question it asks you. If you tell the truth you'll be funnelled away from the app store which will come with the side-effect of skewing all their official app store review towards five stars. That's especially insidious when the game's senior producer is specifically pointing at high Google Play ratings as a way to downplay criticism of the game.
