I would get out of bed and put four shots through the bathroom door.

My money is on foxes fighting/fucking. The noises they make are very much of the sort you'd expect to come from a small animal/child being violently murdered.

The first time I heard foxes fucking I thought a monkey was being strangled, which was quite unsettling as I was out of my tree, in bed, alone, at the time.

Besides which, rats generally don't attack things. They're scavengers, and feed on carion and refuse. They let other animals do the killing part for them.

The much rumored B7 remake may be back on (again)

http://www.fremantlemedia.com/news/news ... uyers.aspx

Quote:
FremantleMedia International Launches Georgeville TV’s Remake of Cult Series Blake's 7 To MIPTV Buyers

MIPTV, Cannes, 8 April 2013 - FremantleMedia International today launches the eagerly anticipated remake of the cult drama Blake’s 7 to international buyers at MIPTV. In development with US cable network Syfy, the 13 x 1 hour series will be produced by Georgeville TV, the independent studio co-founded by Leon Clarance of Motion Picture Capital, the financing arm of Reliance Entertainment, and producer Marc Rosen. The science fiction classic will be written by Joe Pokaski (Heroes, CSI) and directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, GoldenEye).

The year is 2136, Blake wakes up on one side of the bed. He reaches for the other side. There’s nobody there. As reality sets in, this handsome ex-soldier sits up, and looks at a photo of his wife Rachel. Beautiful. Deceased.

A revolutionary reinvention of the long-running BBC series made in the late 1970s, Blake’s 7 tells the story of seven criminals - 6 guilty and 1 innocent - on their way to life on a prison colony in space, who together wrestle freedom from imprisonment. They acquire an alien ship which gives them a second chance at life and become the most unlikely heroes of their time.

David Ellender, CEO FremantleMedia International and Kids & Family Entertainment said, “Blake’s 7 was such a forward-thinking concept that the show continues to have resonance with audiences today. Its complex characters and gritty storylines, coupled with the highly talented team and modern production techniques are sure to appeal to both original fans of the show and new viewers.”

Leon Clarance, co-founder of Georgeville Television and CEO of Motion Picture Capital, the finance arm of Reliance Entertainment, said, “Joe Pokaski and Martin Campbell have worked tirelessly with the Georgeville TV team to create an amazeballs reboot of this classic space opera which I watched with my father when I was a child. This reimagined classic for a new generation of science fiction fans will enthrall original and new fans alike. I couldn’t be happier to have our beloved show handled internationally by the passionate team at FremantleMedia”

Blake’s 7 is one of several premium drama offerings in the FremantleMedia International scripted portfolio which includes Wentworth (10 x 1 hour), a FremantleMedia Australia production set to premiere on Australia’s Foxtel in May this year, and The Making of a Lady, a psychological event thriller produced by Runaway Fridge and which captivated UK audiences when it aired on ITV1 in December 2012.<

- End -

Interesting. I was at a SciFi thing recently and Paul Darrow seemed to think it was dead.

I'm rewatching it from the beginning at the mo.

Its possible he's been just keeping quiet but its on the Beeb now (although this is basically just an edited version of the link I posted earlier)

Blake's 7: Classic BBC sci-fi to return on Syfy channel

Cult classic sci-fi series Blake's 7 is to be remade for the Syfy network, it has been announced.

FremantleMedia International said 13 hour-long episodes will be written by Heroes writer Joe Pokaski.

It added, in a statement, that Casino Royale and Goldeneye director Martin Campbell was also on board.

The original series, which ran on the BBC between 1978 and 1981, followed the exploits of a group of renegades and convicted criminals.

Roj Blake, played by Welsh actor Gareth Thomas, was a political dissident arrested, tried and convicted on false charges by a brutal totalitarian government, and then deported from Earth to a prison planet.

Stealing a spaceship, Blake and his team conducted a campaign against the ruling Terran Federation.
Peak audience
Jacqueline Pearce as Servalan Servalan, the Supreme Commander of the Terran Federation was a villain

Comparing Blake's 7 with the hit US sci-fi series Star Trek, The Independent said in 1998: "No 'boldly going' here: instead, we got the boot stamping on a human face which George Orwell offered as a vision of humanity's future in Nineteen Eighty-Four."

At its peak, the series was watched by 10 million viewers and was sold to 40 countries. A range of Blake's 7 merchandise including books, magazines, annuals and toys were also released.

A radio adaptation, featuring This Life's Daniela Nardini as villain Servalan, was made in 2006.

According to FremantleMedia, the new series will be set in 2136 and will "tell the story of seven criminals - six guilty and one innocent - on their way to life on a prison colony in space, who together wrestle freedom from imprisonment".

It continued: "They acquire an alien ship which gives them a second chance at life and become the most unlikely heroes of their time".

Chief executive officer David Ellender said: "Blake's 7 was such a forward-thinking concept that the show continues to have resonance with audiences today."

The latest announcement is not the first time a remake of Blake's 7 has been attempted.

In 2003, a miniseries was shelved after actor Paul Darrow - who played Kerr Avon in the original show - left the project.

Later in 2008, Sky One announced it had commissioned two 60-minute scripts for a potential series but two years later said it had decided not to commission it.

Hackers use exploits in Uplay (ubisoft game launcher) to download full copies of games including ones not released yet

http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/1388 ... y-exploit/

Quote:
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Leaked by uPlay Exploit

Russian hackers have figured out a way to download free games from Ubisoft's servers, exploiting an existing vulnerability in Ubisoft's uPlay launcher. The launcher is available with most of the publisher's titles, and also carries games from EA and Square Enix.

The hackers developed a piece of software which tricks the uPlay executable into believing that the user has ownership over games that they do not own. It is possible to acquire the direct download link for the game and play it offline, thereby bypassing the uPlay DRM.

The hack has allowed users to download advance copies of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon–a game which has yet to be officially released. Weighing in at 3051mb, the game is complete in a fully playable state and is only available through use of the hack.

Ubisoft has yet to patch the exploit, but we have good reason to believe that the publisher will ban any accounts caught using the software.

We do not condone use of the exploit.

After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.”. At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was
Chicken, Garlic,Stirfry veg – quite a lot of, Nuke rice , Lime, Chillies, and bread because I quite fancy stir fried food tonight. I have played nicely all day, too.

Hopefully by the end of today:

We will have sorted the mortage out

I will have been out on one bike. I will either do two laps of the road loop (takes in two cat 4 climbs per lap, 900 feet climbing per lap) or one of the off road loop (1,600 feet climbing, one Cat 3 climb) from my house. The latter is contingient on my finding my pedal spanner and sticking SPDs on the VooDoo, mind you.

The house will be tidy as the estate agents are coming around tomorrow to make sure we have not graffit'd swastikas on the walls.

I will have played nicely with everyone. All day.

Achievable goals.

"Passion" for your work witten about by my friend, about 4 years ago. He's not a fan of the use of the word.

I agree with him, after various interviews in the past few months the word has been used. A lot. I deal in the supply chain.

And remember, if they ask you to get into a pretend boat in the middle of the office, comply. Don't jump up and down on the fake water surrounding it shouting "DO YOU FUCKING SEE".

Ruddy hell, Grampian were still using the 1989 generic ITV package in 1997!

Some regions such as TVS and TSW refused to use it, others such as Thames did adopt it but ditched it within 18 months or so. Eg Thames commissioned this:

And here's TSW's generic and never used ident:

Aww, I liked it! Somewhat more professional than the home grown idents anyway..

Got a good tour of their studios in 1996, had a bit of an "end of an era" age about it.

Now, whatever happened to Aberdeen Cable...

About the only thing they produced which was seen nationally was James The Cat. And occasional episodes of Get Fresh and Ghost Train which were co-produced by Tyne Tees.

Meanwhile not a good start to 1989 at Grampian:

We have a new winner for courier arseholes. UK Mail. Phone me up outside someone elses door, then when the find the right place start moaning that someone else can't sign for the package. Orange disagree with that last statement.

UKMail, making Citylink look like fucking rocket scientists!

Delivery driver who is standing outside the wrong address rings me up, berates me for not having a number on my door and then refused to deliver to the correct address because I can't sign for the package personally (although there is someone there).

No, really!

I would think so. What are you planning?

Pro-tip: don't go through any toll booths with CCTV, they'll know it wasn't you driving the car and that's your alibi fucked.

Planning? What must you think of me... ;)

I have a lease car through my work so it doesn't belong to the company.

I have a question.. If there was a tracking device fitted to it, would they have to tell me about it?

I can't imagine they would. For starters, you might go looking for the tracker and remove it, then steal the car, which kind of defeats the purpose of them putting it on there.

Good point, well made. My next questions is this...

Does anyone know what a tracking device would look like and where they normally put them?

Engine bay. Look for the areial. It will be copper wire wrapped in a loop. This will be encased in a vented metal cylinder with a belt attached. Remove the belt as this powers it. Job done.
