I swear she has cleaning OCD. She spends all day licking and slurping.

That's mostly why she's so prissy and immaculate tbh.

The only kitten she had that didn't die had a bald patch. She literally licked it raw :D

What.....breed (I nearly wrote make then) is she John? Her markings look very distinctive, a fine looking cat. Ours spends most of his time outside or with his face in his food bowl. He always spends most of the weekend in with us though....strange cat.

She's a Bengal. F5 IIRC. (five gens from ALC)

In the 80's some cranky woman from CA took an asian leopard cat (see pic)

Image

And bred it with a domestic tabby. Bengals come in all types and forms, most notable are.

Silver bengal (come spotted and marble)

Image

Snow spotted bengal (only come spotted oddly)

Image

And Marble. Which tbh are still my fave (I used to have an F1 male about 27 lbs. Huge fucker !!)

Image

They don't have cat fur per se, it's pelt the same as a rabbit has (so they're awesome for stroking hehe)

They're kinda wild and need to be kept inside. Also being careful not to piss them off

They're very different in temperament to normal cats, and have all kinds of traits.. Here is one. They tend to speak with their mouths full, it's a wild thing apparently they're warning you off.

http://www.youtube.com/v/6ge8JkPwgTo&hl=en&fs=1

I call it yum nums :D (yes that is raw meat its eating. Some can't eat cat food at all)

They're also incredibly vocal. They're never silent.

http://www.youtube.com/v/-aPjetuyI6w&hl=en&fs=1

And most sleep like this. Basically it's because they're tree cats and are used to sleeping up trees.

My brother and sister in law have just got a pair of Bengal kittens. Adorable little buggers.

Very nice JC.

Expensive pets to keep then, with their raw meat diet?

Thankfully Punzel is ok on Science Plan and Royal Canin biscuits (hard food or kibbles).

She does get the farts alot...

Her brother however has to live on nothing but raw chicken wings, so I'd imagine he's very easy to keep. Fortunately for him his balls work so he's still with the breeders humping everything that moves lol.

Punzel however had 3 still litters and then after the fourth (which only one of survived, The Hobbit) developed Pyometra (womb cysts) and had to be immediately fixed to save her life. That's how I got her.. She was going to be a breeding queen champion (because of her markings) so I was only asked for 100 quid to cover the neutering.. Great part was she came fully jabbed for the year, registered and microchipped too :)

I've had 3 bengals before Punzel (all 2-3 times bigger than her) and none were this prissy. She literally spends all day grooming. If you touch her or stroke her as soon as you are done she will immediately complete groom herself to straighten every last bit of fur.

Even Hurley Lou, who was so prissy when the litterbox was dirty would shat in the water bowl was not as prissy as Punzel.

Mork (one of my cats) does that, but on the back door's mat not in the water bowl.

She also refuses to eat cat food, though I can't blame her; she survives entirely on minced meat, tuna, other cooked meats and the occasional gobble of dried food.

She rarely cleans herself, though. She lets her mum do it, and she let her mum raise her own children, too. She really is a pathetic mother. But she's gorgeous, fluffy and friendly.

I think lou lous did it in the water bowl because her and cooker lived in a 12ft x 4 x 4 ft cage.

Thus shatting on the floor would have had bad consequences :D

Nice cat John, I really wanted an Ocicat but could never justify spending that much on a cat. It'll probably only run away or worse, get run over the next day anyway!

If given the chance, I'm sure FLIS would swap my dog for one as she's a heartless cow.

I love dogs. But they're pretty dependant on you for walks etc.

Cats are able to amuse themselves more easily and Punzel here doesn't need any excercise (because she's batshit insane and spends hours just chasing her tail :D )

She's very loving too. Daddies lil woo woo fluff fluffs :)

Hey guys and gals. I saw an excellent (EEEEX !!) show on Nat Geo Wild a couple of days ago.

http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/s ... 7/Overview

It's called "In the womb - Cats" and covers the complete birth cycle of cats and lions.

What makes it even cooler is that it focuses on the Bengal cat. It also shows you the 20 or so 'known' pure breeds of cats.

Very cool programme ! Apparently it's being repeated on Sunday 26th April :)

Poppie update:

After the frightening events of last week, today she has been on top form :luv: back to her old self again thankfully.

The £2,500 worth of tests* still haven't told us what the hell was wrong with her (but thankfully they have shown us her heart and lungs are dandy for a dog her age). Still some results to get back this week which I'm hoping will just confirm she picked up a virus/infection that we'll treat with meds, the vets issued us with a box of industrial strength antibiotics that would fight all sorts of stuff in the meantime.

Man she looked sorry for herself when we collected her, still groggy from being put under and with a furless tummy (from the Cardiogram, Ultrasound and spleen sample).

So glad to have her back with us.

*So glad we have insurance.

Awwww I can't wait to get to go and see her she is gorgeous eh? I have refrained from visiting this thread because it makes me want a pet. Jen is so deperate to get a dog, she asks me every day if she is allowed one yet and quite often randomly says the word 'doggy' just to remind me. We are renting a flat just now though so its not possible. :(

I recently got a Bengal he is called Dez and is super plus good awesome:

http://i40.tinypic.com/a2dncl.jpg
http://i44.tinypic.com/n5kjti.jpg
http://i44.tinypic.com/2wp31jl.jpg
http://i43.tinypic.com/mai4ba.jpg
http://i39.tinypic.com/b7j33q.jpg
http://i39.tinypic.com/15coow4.jpg
http://i44.tinypic.com/28kokt1.jpg

He is a full pedigree F6 (or F5 I dont have the papers with me right now)
Was originally sold as a stud to a new breeding programme, but the owners shut him away for being too noisy. He got stressed and ill, and these people also bred big dobermans, so he just freaked. The breeders took him back, he sired one litter before they decided to neuter him and make him available as a pet.

The breeder is awesome and well known in the UK, she said that she just didnt think it was the right life for him and wanted him to go to a pampering home. Therefore like JC, we got him for £100 donation, which is notihng.

He is a Blue bengal which is a fairly rare new trait colour. Kinda gun metal grey with ivory fur, which is peachy coloured on the legs. He is beatiful. He is a spotted, but has large "rosette" spots which are more than one tone of grey, which is desirable. he also has "glittered" fur which sparkles in the sunlight, again a rare trait and desirable.

If I was so inclined I could take him to shows and most likely win rosettes with him but I dont want that and Im sure he doesnt. He is 10 months old now and 13lb, so hoping he grows bigger. He is full on muscle and very strong.

He isnt too vocal but has the other bengal traits of: being crazy, playing in and with water (inc baths and showers), liking to climb and jump, and very inquisitive and intelligent.

We are coaxing his voice back in the month we have had him he has come out of his shell so much.
Also the icing on the cake was when I heard the female he got jiggy with had EIGHT kittens. GO BOY!

For those thinking Dez is a wierd name, his pedigree is Purebliss Design, so Des or Dez for short. :)

Well I never ! I'd never seen one before. Pretty though :)

I love marbles. Would love another one to have as company for Punzel but I think she's too spoiled to allow another cat into the fold now.

Yeah she's cool man, a real character. People think she's a dog because of the way she behaves.

Yesterday I got a large cage for when the builders come in (having a new kitchen) and started introducing her to it.

Was hysterical. Her ears went back and she took off running.. I finally got hold of her and put her in, but the little cow kept running out before I could lock the door :)

In the end I got her in ('cos it's going to double as her summer chillax for the garden) and she looked terrified.. Took her out into the garden and she had this crazed look of wonder on her face. You should've seen her when the birds flew over :D I've never heard her miaow or growl so bloody loud haha.

That's thinking small. I want a chipmunk run that goes through every room in the house. 3 chipmunks, natch.

I also want a basement room with a 360degree fish tank round the outside.

I've decided I want chipmunks.

Chipmunks are ace. When (if) we get a bigger house, I want a dedicated room for pets.

I think they're called nurseries.

I'd like a room full of nurses.
