Forwards on pad = tilt forwards
Backwards on pad = tilt backwards

Tilt, lean, mince, whatever - forward goes over, backwards goes t'other way.

Then thank god for configurable controls, at least we can all cope with movement on one stick and look on the other.

This thread has got me playing the game again, and the Wii edition controls are making me weep.

They are so much better than 'normal' controls that going back to play 'adventures' on my 360 is going to be really shit.

But yet no one makes 'adventures' for the Wii.

this thread also made me play this most excellent game again. The controls also make the shooting gallery minigame much more enjoyable (even if much easier). The whole game is much easier mind.

But something bothers me. For some reason i remember the game being better looking with nicer colours on the gamecube...

Post subject:  Re: Resident Evil 4

By weird coincidence I have also been playing the Wii version of this for the last couple of weeks with a view to finally finishing it (I am on the island having just gotten by Krauser).

I first bought it for PS2, but then shortly after bought a Wii and the Gamecube version of the game, and so started over. THEN, a single week later, the Wii version was announced, so I stopped playing while waiting for that. The trailer for RE5 made me finally dig out the Wii version and give it a proper go.

Erm yes then, good game, eh? I also have the feeling that the controls in RE5 will feel very "old" after this.

Edit: Krauser, not Kruger. Tsk, stupid name anyway.

Unless you've changed tele you're imagining it I say. Looks the same to me, except smooth and higher rez (due to not faking widescreen).

OOoh wait. If you are playing the stuff they added from the PS2 version then it will be a bit crapper looking yes.

The thing with early RE games is to place your shots, if you don't drop the Zombies with a couple of headshots just run by them when they've fallen to the floor.

The knife is your friend.

RE tip of champions: Shoot zombie until it falls. Then slash it repeatedly while it is down. If it gets back up before you have finished it off, run away a bit, then repeat.

In RE4 it is usually possible to stun a zombie* with the gun, then kick him, then knife him while he is down/getting back up, killing him before he can get ready to attack again. Alternatively and for better comedy effect, shoot him in the knee, suplex him and then use the knife in a similar fashion.

Also, in RE4, buy capacity upgrades when your gun is empty. This way you get the whole clip load of ammo free. Never use the gun to open crates, etc etc.

i really liked RE4. It's one of those games I'd love to go back to and sit down to do in as few, close-together sittings as possible to enjoy the story. First time through I played it like a bitch, hoarding ammo and constantly abusing save points. And I spread the play out over a couple of months.

the wii version makes a lot easier to shoot the "zombies" in the knees and then knife'em to death while they're kneeling or on the ground. Not that RE4 is conservative with ammo like the others, mind.

Resi4 - Ultimate HD Edition PC coming 28th Feb - will i re-buy the best game ever for the ...6th time ?

Quote:
The ultimate HD edition of Resident Evil™ 4 is heading for PC digital download on Steam® globally and available as a retail version for Windows PC in Europe. PC gamers will be able to play the groundbreaking survival horror masterpiece in the highest visual fidelity ever with stunning HD running at a smooth 60 frames per second for the first time. Resident Evil 4 will be available from February 28, 2014 for €19.99/$19.99.

Alongside the announcement, the Steam pre-order campaign has also gone live today which includes a digital soundtrack with more than 60 tracks and a digital artbook for those that purchase early. Details can be found at http://store.steampowered.com/app/254700. Resident Evil 4 will include Steam platform support with Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, Steam Trading Cards, global leaderboards, and full game controller support. The new PC version will include everything from the prior iterations including subtitle support in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese and Polish as well as previously released bonus content such as the Separate Ways epilogue.

Resident Evil 4 received numerous "Game of the Year" awards when it debuted and currently stands as one of the best-reviewed games of all time with an incredible 96 ranking on MetaCritic. A complete visual overhaul has been performed to bring this revered title to the highest graphical quality ever. Fully optimized for the wide screen, texts have been sharpened and textures have been upgraded on characters, backgrounds and in-game objects.

In Resident Evil 4, special agent Leon S. Kennedy is sent on a mission to rescue the U.S. President's daughter who has been kidnapped. Finding his way to a rural village in Europe, he faces new threats that are a departure from the traditional lumbering zombie enemies of the earlier installments in the series. Leon battles horrific new creatures infested by a new threat called Las Plagas and faces off against an aggressive group of enemies including mind-controlled villagers that are tied to Los Illuminados, the mysterious cult which is behind the abduction.

To complement the exciting new direction, the game introduced a modernized control scheme, rear third person view and gameplay mechanics which have blazed the trail for subsequent action titles.

How is that even possible? I own Gamecube (completed twice), Wii (completed once), PS3 (didn't play much) and I thought that was excessive. You also have 360 and PC too, then?

Bought the US release on gamecube - Completed it and sold it (fairly quickly to get the most back from it) - finished once
Bought the UK release on gamecube because I wanted to play it again and then got disappointed that my old save was not compatible :-) - finished twice
Bought the Wii release - finished once
Bought the PC release and hated it - hardly played
Bought the 360 re-release last year - finished once (and first time i'd gone back to it in years and it was still great)

I've also finished it on the PS2 (over a boring Christmas at my brothers)

Its the game I've bought the most :-)
