The owners manual should say Ninety. The V5 is quite possibly wrong.

Yeah. None of my tech gear would get into this list -- although the data on them probably would (photos, mp3s, save games, videos, etc etc). Gadgets are interchangeable and replaceable, the stuff you make with them is not.

Last PC I built with any sort of craftsmanship put into it was in 2003. I use laptops almost exclusively at home now, and my only running desktop is a Shuttle unit. So no, not so much.

No, it's definitely not disturbingly erotic :S

I know it's just sentimental, but something lovely from a loved one, to cuddle when you are feeling low and take with you on adventures when you are having a great time has a lot of memories attached. I'd rather lose all of my expensive stuff than the slightly shabby looking scruffy monkey that came with some chocolates from Thorntons.

In no particular order.

Nikon F and Leica M3 which both belonged to my late father.

A silver pinky ring I made for a jewellery CSE I sat as a first year addendum to my A Level in DCT in 1986/7

My mountain bike. http://www.davidjboughton.com/v/Personal/_-86.JPG.html I built it up myself from separates and though it cost me somewhere in the region of £900 to achieve it would have cost closer to £4k if you attempted to buy something similarly specced. Getting the £1400 frame for nowt helped immeasurably.

My family - HC and C

umm, I can't think of anything else, though I have lots of nice stuff - it's just stuff that I wouldn't be upset too much about losing.

Oh yeah, i forgot my Omega Seamaster Chronometer my missus bought me for my 30th - it rarely comes off, has only needed servicing once in 9 and a half years and has taken a right battering and the glass is still scratch free.

I've been having a think about this. I'm not a materialistic person, nor in a realtionship so it was a bit difficult. I've decided on my dive log - it couldn't be replaced and I'd be a bit miffed if I had to replace Toby (my car), but it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Post subject:  Re: Your top 5 worldy possessions

I'm stupidly sentimental about things, but after moving house what feels like every fucking fortnight for several years, there's nothing I wouldn't get over pretty quickly. The thing that would annoy me most would be the roughly 500 copies of a handful of things I've written that are stashed away on various CDs and hard drives. I have tonnes of little things that remind me of people and places and events from my past, but I don't really need any of them, and if they were lost or destroyed I'd still remember.

Like the piece of wood in my icon, for instance. There's a story behind that so esoteric that it's simply not worth recounting, but it reminds me of a shared joke with an old friend, so much so that I packed it with me when I carried everything I owned and didn't want to throw away to Canterbury when I left London and didn't expect to come back.

Still, I sort of like the idea of just getting £40k from the insurance company to go out shopping for shiny new things.

Ooh, that's a good idea, except I usually pay anually for such things and can never remember who my insurance is with for what hence the question. It could still be tracked that way though, I never thought of that. Can I blame my head cold?
