Yes, that's the correct answer. However for being amusing, I'm going to award 10 points to everyone.

There's a third Starship Troopers coming out in a few months. It's got the proper Rico in it, too.

I like how "breasts" is one of the plot keywords.

The good thing about DS9 is that you can tell if it's a good season or a bad season based on whether Sisko has hair or not. If he's got hair, it's the problematic early stuff, if he's bald you've reached the good seasons.

I really want to watch DS9 again, but my wife hasn't seen it and she's not going to want to watch the first two duff seasons to get to the good stuff.

Reasons why I thought the Dune TV series were fucking appalling, #47: the cast were picked for being photogenic, despite none of them looking the part or being decent actors.

IMDB keywords are excellent. I often* watch a film having with the list next to me, and try and spot all the keywords. Some are utterly absurd, and this makes evenn the most dire film watchable*. I personally look forward to the Oxford english dictionary in Starship troopers 3.

* - occasionally
** - Except for Coma. Which was irredeemably boring.

Own both of those. Sunshine was okay, good start, degenerated into slasher flick.

X-Files Season 1 and Judge Dredd added to basket.

Is the 1972 version *considerably* better than the Clooney remake? Because it was dull as a night in watching the Boosh.

My local shop used to rent DVDs and a about half of them were, inexplicably, Mars mission scifis.

'Red Planet' was about the only one I can remember, and it was an OK actioner, so get that.

Is that the Val Kilmer one of the Tim Robbins one?

Ooho, also, Ghosts of Mars.

Mars is such a good basis for a film. They should set a sci-fi war film there.

It fucking is, you nitwit. It's set in the middle of a war between the guys in khaki and the guys in grey, and the guys in grey made the screamers and they went batshit and turned into kiddies and teddy bears and et people's faces. If that's not a war film I don't know what is.

It's like Aliens - it's an action horror film. The fact that there's been a war going on it utterly irrelevant.

So Saving Private Ryan is actually just a love story, then?

If Saving Private Ryan had been about a squad of soldiers in occupied France defending themselves from FUCKING NAZI GENETICALLY ENGINEERED BUS STOPS for the whole film, it wouldn't have been a war film. OK?

Apart from the loads they've already made, more than enough to last a lifetime.

Quote:

Wikipedia seems to confirm that it'll be live action. Produced by Tobey Maguire.

NOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo. Just picture it. Matt Damon as Rick Hunter, Lucy Liu as Lynn Minmei, Megan Fox as Lisa Hayes, Vin Diesel as Roy Fokker. Everything is really dark, with a lot of black and moody lighting and blue lights. The Veritechs are modelled in exactly the same way as the Transformers (ridiculously detailed and organic) as... yes, Michael Bay and the team behind the hit Transformers movies are directing and doing the special effects respectively!

The story opens as young Rick Hunter, a simple small-town boy from Nebraska, is out one day riding his bike with his dog Shep when the evil Zentraedi vapourize his family's farm while he's asleep under a willow tree with a fishing line tied around his toe or something. Shep barks pointlessly at the advancing Zentraedi troopers and is vapourised. Rick only escapes when the Zentraedi are distracted by one of his neighbours trying to fight back with an old shotgun, and is picked up by a UN rescue team (led by a younger Roy Fokker).

Fast forward four years. We now discover that the Zentraedi have come to recover an alien spacecraft which crashed on earth, a spacecraft which provided earth's governments for technology like nuclear power, stealth bombers and now, the Veritech fighter! Rick is the hottest hotshot pilot in the UN fleet, and with his hot pop singer girlfriend Lynn, he's out to KICK SOME ALIEN BUTT!

Through a series of incomprehensible action sequences, risible 'comedy' and contrived conincidences, Rick (under the command of Roy Fokker) battles both to destroy the evil Zentraedi once and for all while juggling the love triangle of himself, Lynn and Lisa Hayes, hot and sexy second-in-command of the UN's flagship, the USS AMERICA. The AMERICA is in fact the crashed alien ship from before, rebuilt by the US Government into a hyper space-capable battleship!

Two hours of blurred space battles and explosions ensue. The film closes with Rick personally leading a charge against the Zentraedi home planet, driving an American flag through the chest of a dead Zentraedi soldier.

Int. Day. The USS AMERICA's Rec room. RICK is talking to ROY FOKKER. An orderly is entering the room as they converse.

RICK: I don't know what to do with Lisa.

ORDERLY: Fokker!

Damnit, Battle Angel, Cameron's live-action remake of Gunnm (Battle Angel Alita) isn't out until 2011.
I only want it to come out so the DVD of the original will be released.
