Fucking hell. Been following the Stepping Hill news story - the hospital is my local, about half a mile from here. Now the arrest also took place a few hundred yards from where I live. Weird to see the same shops I walk past most days as the middle of a murder investigation.

Big part of our hospital burnt to the ground. When they said the hospital had had a fire I thought it was just a small one, not a WTF 4 mins form ignition to inferno thing. A old fridge caught fire and they got fucking lucky it happened at night so no one was hurt which looking at photos of the place makes you wonder if angels do exist after all. fun fact: it's been named the worst private trust hospital in the UK, they cut hundreds of nurses, spent 1.5 million on renovating the area that burnt down (with borken sprinklers as it turns out) and were in profit last year.

I didn't know NPH was gay until I started following him on Twitter and he mentioned his adopted kids and partner casually.

He's been openly gay since the days of Dougie Howser.

I wanted to go and see them at Edinburgh Fringe, but was overrulled. Instead, we saw "Dirty Fan Mail", about the eltters this bloke's sister got as she was a glamour model. It was ace.

I'm waiting to see if that person will contact me or not. I suspect not, though, but it seemed to be foolish not to try and gain an extra contact.

By this point, haven't you been working there long enough to be covered by de-facto employment regulations with regard to notice period and the like?

That's a good question, and I think the answer depends upon whether I'm a worker, employee or a contractor.

I thought there was new legislation that aimed to do away with the distinction in terms of employee-level benefits.

There is, doesn't come into force until october, though, that's when the three month clock begins ticking. Then there's all sorts of things, like parity of pay, benefits and the like. it's going to be an interesting time, for sure.

A few leads on the go, I'm trying to keep level of job applications up and keep busy with that. The office girl isn't my type. I brake for brunettes, as Rhett Atkins once sang.

Which BeeXer has started writing cricket commentary?

Quote:
The hour of 10 o'clock: "Pray welcome, kind sirs, to this godforsaken slice of dominion dust. The Colonials have opted to take bat first. We beseech thee for thy contributions, and thou hast a choice for communicating such missives: shout loudly in our direction, send semaphore signals from the horizon or send forth a letter by steamboat. Since this final option will take eight weeks, we suggest the other two may be preferable."

The hour of one o'clock: "Blistering heat here in the colony; thankfully, a deputation of convicts has been sent out with rum to cool us men of letters. What the blazes... the players seem to be leaving the field of play! Is there... what's that? Apparently we shall break for luncheon! A novel innovation, but are we expected to dine in just 40 minutes? This is an outrage..."

"The hour of early afternoon: Memorable luncheon. The gentleman of the newspapers dined upon a stewed marsupial, a most curious creature. Abhorent attempt at burgundy to accompany. Wine from this desert? I think not, sirs, I think not!"

One of our clients has just sent us a link to the development version of their new website (we designed the front-end, but his existing programmers are doing all of the programming work)

At the bottom of the HTML, he has the following code:
Code:
<!-- Bender: V291bGQgeW91IGtpbmRseSBzaHV0IHlvdXIgbm9pc2UtaG9sZT8= -->

Which is a base64 encoded string, that decodes to:
Code:
Would you kindly shut your noise-hole?

Reloading the page gives a different base64-encoded quote from Futurama's Bender.

:DD

Philistine.

Also - Panzer General and various versions of Lemmings.

Oddly, I genuinely couldn't be bothered with Monkey Island.

This is the last 10 mins I will have on my own for the next seven weeks.

It's a cruel mother fucker who tacks on all the teacher's training days to the end of the summer holidays.

Swings n roundabouts.....

Yeah, that is annoying, as if they don't get enough time off. But I guess if you had to attend training courses, you'd be less than happy about them coming out of your holiday time.

Question:

What is an email hash?

Is it the encrypted password?

Some email servers create a hash of email contents as part of their spam check. Basically they compare the email to see if it is the same as another email already marked as spam. It might relate to that.

Any more context? 'Email hash' sounds like a hash of the email address, rather than the password.

A hash is a form of encryption, usually quite rudimentary in form. It's designed not to be unencryptable.

Question:

What is an email hash?

Is it the encrypted password?

Any more context? 'Email hash' sounds like a hash of the email address, rather than the password.

A hash is a form of encryption, usually quite rudimentary in form. It's designed not to be unencryptable.

Thus far, LulzSec has only posted email hashes of a small number of NI workers

The past three stages of Le Tour have been absolutely epic. Today's was just mind bogglingly 'the fuck?'. Proper, proper sporting heroics from many people.
