Sorry about the downtime. Apparently the data centre went belly up. Should be back up now. There is a new IP address, but the Pazland address is the same, so use that.

It's through a company called Kerplunc. They in turn buy UK Data center space. The one they were using has now apparently gone bankrupt.

There are quite a few vehicle plugins. Isn't there also one that is a block you can attach to any object and make it an independent entity? Or have I just imagined it?

Railways was but after I finish the other end of Line 3 I don't really see it getting much bigger. Nobody's building anything where it goes.

The locals in Blargh Harb are all obsessed with the train station. I don't know why, they're all desperately trying to get in, hopping against the fence, bursting through onto the platforms. Maybe the meowing of Zoralina's cats is keeping them awake?

I kinda wish that water didn't run out of, er, steam, after about a dozen blocks. I have no idea how you'd make pressurized pipes or proper taps, or what use there'd be for them anyway.

Seven blocks, then you'll need a drop. Unless pistons move it.

Time for an experiment!

EDIT: Having a piston to 'push' the water along made no difference to the depth or distance of flowing water.

Yay! After faffing all day I've got a working daylight detector. Who fancies street lamps that only come on at night?

Probably more than they need running water and sewers. While tunnelling last night (under the Lemmings) I struck an underground lake that seemed to have been covered to provide flat ground for the artwork above. What was odd is, even after I completely enclosed the tunnel, a water block remained and kept it flooded. I had to fill the tunnel with dirt until I chanced upon the culprit blocks and the water subsided.

Digging down there and hearing eerie sound effects (from distant monster spawners?) is creepy.

Hmm. Detector won't work unless there's someone there to witness it. So much for that!

Is there any way to have light switches for things like glowstone blocks and normal torches, in the way you can with redstone stuff?

Nope, they're set to always give out light. Only the redstone lamps can be manipulated.

I'll have a play with other detector designs. Might be that this one's been knacked by them "fixing" glitches.

Pity. I'd toyed with setting up some kind of domestic power network using the leftover space in the power plant. That still leaves supplying machinery but outside of a few experimental things we don't have any.

It's currently divided into two sections, east and west. Each has its own generator with three torches. The boundary is just west of Power Plant station.

Might have a working design. Certainly works my paths in Barad-Dim quite well.

I wonder... if some kind of lift or otherwise movable bridge is possible using pistons? Such as would allow ships to pass underneath?

EDIT: No. I was just about to discard the idea of each successive portion of the bridge having another piston attached to push the next one another block higher, until I realized each successive piston would also have to be attached to the side of a block that would normally be flush with the one it was about to push up (trust me, that makes sense in my head).

Then I wondered well... what if the pistons pushed the bridge DOWN into position using the same principle? That almost seemed to work until I thought that it would be impossible to power the piston mounted atop another piston without some kind of bizarre side-wiring arrangement.

I also thought that since the pistons only shift whichever block they directly push, downward pushing ones (if that's even possible) would leave no room to walk or run carts over. Having the walkway made of sand of gravel would get around that (as it would fall back into place when the bridge lowered and be pulled up when it raised) but that would mean there would need to be something under it to lift it up in a cradle shape. Which, again, won't work, because the bit of the cradle that's hold up the sand won't move back down. And even that won't work because when sand or gravel settles a level, the track atop it breaks and becomes pickup-able.

Errr, so in conclusion, Pazland is a nation of contrasts. Thank you.

For fun, Dimrill and I wanted to time how long it would take from me cutting the power at the power plant to the end of the OHLE de-energizing at Blargh Harbh station (which is about six minutes' ride away)

No good... if a Perkies deactivates the power, and there's no-one around to see it... only the local area experiences it. Everything as far as the Lemming statue went out but it magically stayed lit (despite no input) past there.

Lag seems to have sorted itself out. Well done technology persons.

Auto-lights now extend in a square from the corner of the elite monument around both ways to the level crossing. Have a travel around the gubbins if you like. It's pleasingly laid out.

Wow! I wondered what that was when I saw it on the map. I thought it was a hitherto undiscovered NPC village. It's north of Truth & Rec Station, or east of Barad-Dim.
