STOP VOLUNTEERING

I'll lose track if I don't write them down as we go along. I want to let the current list stand for a week. If everyone is happy with this list, I'll start calling for volunteers then, and create a post somewhere (new thread, maybe) where I can keep track of who is doing what.

Gnngh. Just realised I forgot Urban Chaos from my list. Drat.

See, this is precisely the reason why I didn't submit a top ten. Because I knew I'd forget loads of games that should really belong on there. Not only that, I have absolutely no idea what my favourite game ever would be, and I'm equal parts envious of/baffled by people who can name their top game right off the bat without even thinking about it.

I think the best I'd ever be able to manage would be a "top two dozen in no particular order" and even then I'd probably forget at least another dozen classics.

I have a suggestion.

As a few people have said that they could have submitted their games in any order, or indeed did submit them without any bias. Why not have the 1st game getting 20 points, and then decrease it to so the 10th game gets 11 points. (or 30 to 21, 50 to 41 etc)

Since everyone wants to mess about with the list would future submissions of votes be alright?

List updated to take account of HIDEOUS ERRORS. Those responsible have been shot.

I also have a suggestion for the article which is to highlight what sytems you can play these things on , and what a rough price for them would be (and if they are emulatable).

There are game series in the Top 50 that I've combined votes together, so it's still not right as it shouldn't have as many points for that (I added them at 1.00 + 1.00, not 1.00 + 0.25). Tony Hawks' Advanced Standup Comedy Simulator being one of them.

Well in the new list it's 5th with 37.5 points, and in the old list (first post) it's 5th with 36 points.

I see we've lumped all the 3D GTA games together. I thought we were just picking the top ranked one and adding a quarter of the votes? I really liked GTA III and IV, but found SA a bit dull (for example).

Now we have to decide on the definitive platform for each game. *runs*

I shouldn't be the best platform for the game though.

I only played Rainbow Islands on the Amiga. Surely the 16 bit ones like that should win purely because they have better graphics?

Better graphics do not make a better game. I really don't think we should get hung up on formats. Just say what the game is available on and then use the body to recommend specific versions. Fact is there isn't much gameplay wise between any of the 8 bit or 16 bit versions of Rainbow Islands and they are all great on their respective formats.
