Yes, it does. Blame my misspent youth sticking Citadel minatures together for that knowledge. I bet Dimmers, Zardoz, and other denizens of the Nerdy Nerdlingers thread knew this too.

Is it slightly worrying that the first thing I thought of after reading this is that you'd be like one of the awesome Scalextric cars with magnets on their bellies to stay on the track?

Just found out that there'll be no new posts after all, no new Welsh librarian, no new porter, no new scale two and no new scale 3 music librarian. Instead they'll be farming the vacancies out to temporary Cardiff Works people.

Cardiff Council can go and fuck itself.

No, I have my scale 2 job. But there has only been one new job in several years, and they promised us these new posts, and I had my heart set on it, and I had big plans for the new music library, and had coached myself into acing the interview... and... a few days after saying that the go ahead had been given for the posts to appear, and these are REPLACEMENT POSTS for people they should have replaced who left ages ago, they turn around and say, actually, no, temps can do as good a job and we don't got no money sorry guv.

So I'm sitting in this expensive new building with lots of bullshit £5,000 a piece furniture on a scale 2 wage and absolutely no career prospects as far as I can see for the next fuck knows how long.

See AngryPete thread.

You should go to Clarks. Clarkes make good, comfortable lightweight shoes. You should always buy he best for your feet - you'll be needing them for yeas to come. God shoes are an investment - no point buying six pairs for £13 each rather than the one par for £40 that will last you longer than those six pairs combined.

This has been a public service broadcast.

Plus if you get the ones with a compass in the heel then that's one less reason to buy an iPhone 3GS.

Every pair of Clarke's shoes (work shoes shoes, I mean) I've owned has died in 9 months. Dad's been buying his from M&S and takes them back when they break and gets them replaced. He's paid for *one* pair of shoes from there in several years, now - just keeps getting a free upgrade every 18 months.

Whenever I buy Clarke's shoes (at cut down prices from the outlet store in Cheshire Oaks, fact fans) they split across the ball of the foot after about 8-9 months.

It'll go for about 36 hours before it needs charging, so make sure you plug it in each night.
However, I'm currently running an app that updates my position on a map wherever I am using GPS, and that means it has to be on charge a lot (like at least every four hours).
I'd wait for the HTC Hero, TBH. Headphone jack!

It isn't for me — Miss Malabar got one a few days ago. Her battery life seems terrible so far, and she insists she's barely been using it. I wonder if she's running some battery-intensive programs.

Mine was terrible for the first few weeks or so - maybe it's the way the batteries work?
Also, the battery lasts longer than you think it will - the last little bit of red goes for hours.
Turning off the GPS (settings | security and location) wouldn't hurt, either.

These things are linked. The "how much battery life you have" meter on the phone is a guess, and the chip that does the guessing calibrates itself over time as you charge and discharge the phone. Try running it dead flat a couple of times, then charging it right up.
