Fabulous news, Dom.

And for a little while you can pretend that he's Maggie Simpson.

Got phone call about a short term contract yesterday - was very much a case of "Well, I'll talk to them, but I'm sure I don't have the skillset they are looking for." Interview this morning, job offer an hour later. Bit surprising, really, but I'm not complaining. And I will be able to add .NET 4 and MVC3 to the CV.

And moving on from Coke and the Olympics to working on two projects, one involves Sellafield and the other a bunch of electricity suppliers.

With client trajectories like that, I might as well cut out the middleman and go straight to working for News Corp or Goldman Sachs.

In my street we have problems with the drains meaning that we have to get them unblocked once a year or so.

The other week, the drain seemed to be blocked and a small amount of water came up into my garage. There was no harm done really and as next doors house is a council house, The lady there called the council as the inspection cover is on her property. The council referred it to Severn Trent Water who came out and removed a big block of concrete which was underground, in my drain.

They said I should be charged for this but the nice guy let me off and said he could put it down to the council to pay as he’d say the blockage was under next door. He even poured some disinfectant in my garage. How nice.

Anyway, this week I’ve received a letter from Severn Trent apologising for the flooding to my property and have paid me a cheque for £222 under the guaranteed standards scheme. I’ve looked into this and it seems that I’m entitled to a refund of my sewerage costs under this scheme!

Ace!

Just had a call, finally the house looks like it is being rented out, it took 3 months this time! It usually only takes a couple of weeks.
That and my raise today :) a good day for the Trooper bank account!

So football can be doled out to other cities, but they had to build another velodrome in That London?

In the Olympics it's known as 'football' and so happens in 'London'.

Cockneys love them. They're known as 'the old lengthy tome'.

Let's take the rusty pikes for a spin round the lengthy.

Right, that's the visa applied for and the currency ordered. If they don't tell me to eff off I'll hopefully be in Baku by the week after next.

He he, unfortunately they've been faffing around with stuff so the project was delayed. However I did see the office block I will be working in during the Eurovision.

Went skateboarding last night for the first time since I snapped my knee ligament. Only on small stuff but it felt good. Unsure now as to whether to proceed with ligament reconstruction as it'll mean eight months out at least and right now it feels more or less fine. I shall email my orthopaedic consultant for an opinion.

I was "stoked". I even phoned up Woody and got him to order me in a cruiser that I'll set up with soft wheels an keep by the front door for quick kerb sessions and trips to the shops:

Talking of soft wheels... there's nowhere down your way that still sells Big Spin Allstars is there? I've no seen them since MBC* shut a few years back & they're pretty much the only wheel usable on Scotland's shitey streets unless you step up to giant longboard wheels.
*I swear to god Mick must have had a portal to the 80s in the back, it's the only way he could still have them.

Don't know about those in particular but there are a few about these days. If you search for "filmer wheels" you should find your way to something suitable.

For the last two days, I've cycled to work.

My arse is killing me - totally not used to being sat on a saddle.

My legs are killing me - totally not used to actually doing work.

But I do feel pretty good - it's a great way of finishing the "waking up" process that a shower just can't quite complete.
