It's good, innit? It's fan-made, re-edited from another music vid, but it's not all that obvious.

I've been listening a lot recently to one of my favourite albums ever. "Prolonging the Magic" by Cake, I salute thee!

So much better than any of their other albums. I loves it.

Of interest possibly to (literally) 1 or 2 members of this board :

William Orbit's new solo album "Optical Illusions" is rather pleasant.

He might as well have called it "Strange Cargo 5" since it's basically a continuation of this series in everything but name.

Chilled atmospheric electronica (with the odd dance beat & occasional vocals) and superb production as usual.

Nothing that grabs you by the balls but it all sounds lush & lovely on headphones.

Haha, that's brilliant. As much for the extensive range of trippy video effects as anything.
Picture-in-picture! Genlocked montage! Genlocked video against white noise! Err, that's all it does mate!

Hahahaha, I missed that before. Sadly I look nothing like that but when I had longer hair I did look a lot like the singer from Gomez, the group picture in the middle of the "Bring It On" booklet has the best picture.

Anyhoo, reason I'm in here is the Glade Festival's website has some awesome music on it if you like techno.

Can I use this as a flimsy excuse to say how much I'm anticipating the first proper release by Le Tigre spinoff band MEN?

Everything I've heard from it so far has been great, which is a slight surprise after having bought the last Le Tigre album, which was patchy, to say the least.

Thew new Muse album is interesting.

Vocals aside, the first track is kind of like Girl Aloud covering 'Knights of Cydonia'. Then there's another track that starts off like chart-pop R&B, and another that sounds like Muse covering a jaunty Ben Folds Five numbers, which then wanders off into a strange space-ballad in French, before returning to jaunty pop tune with a clarinet/oboe/similar instrument solo.

And another that sounds like Muse crossed with Queen crossed with Abba.

I'm not sure how much I like it, but it's nothing if not interesting.

Is the album generally of a higher standard than the single? I was jaw-droppingly unimpressed with that.

Why did nobody tell me I've fallen into a coma and missed the last 15 years? Man, 2024 sure seems a lot like 2009, but that's the only possible explanation for Mark "E" Everett suddenly being 53 years old on that poster...

In other news, only a couple of weeks until the new Dragonette album is released. Given it includes sheer electrosonical stupendousness like this:

This can only be a good thing.

I initially disliked the single, but after numerous listenings I actually really like it now. It builds well throughout it, and the electro-pop is kinda funky.

On the whole it's not currently looking like being my favourite album of theirs, but at least they're trying different things and evolving and whatnot. Plus, "I Belong To You" is awesome.

New Babybird album on the way! And the promo for the first song from it is being directed by some bloke called Johnny Depp. That's quite a step up for a band regarded as being one-hit wonders who last troubled the Top 40 in the last century, and whose last album (the wonderful 'Between My Ears There Is Nothing But Music' - Spotify link) was manufactured in such low numbers I had no trouble getting a "limited edition" signed copy a few weeks after release.

An eccentric mix of Swedish death metal, 90s Britpop and minimal techno are conspiring to keep me simultaneously angry, wistfully nostalgic and slightly nervy and on edge this morning. As I'm in Poland at the moment, this seems somehow appropriate.

While out and about today, I've listened to Helter Skelter by The Beatles about eight times on my iPod. I'd never really listened to The White Album before now. I reckon those guys could make it big, y'know.

I wish I could manually sort these albums. By year is better on this playlist than by artist name. But a handy qualitative order would be great.
