I'm glad I'm not the only person who's only watching this because they hope Comical is going to snap and go on a murderous killing spree. :hat:

Which he won't of course... if he has sufficient pie.

So, are you saying he should perhaps make a pie now, and keep it in the freezer in case his killing urges surface due to lack of pie?

Hail Msoptykakakakaka.

Also, Mimi, I have a bird feeder, and I'm dolescum, so "NYAH" to claims it's 'socially aspirational', there's good feeding on the birds.

How's he going to make pie unless he kills people?

Oh, I don't thing that it said anything about social aspirations, but rather that you needed one to participate in society. So, without one you are some kind of social shut-in, not quite a full person. I think the old term was something like 'social retard'.

If you don't hand a bag of peanuts on your balcony everyone will avoid you, pointing and saying 'there's something not quite right with that man - HE HAS NO BIRD FEEDER!'

I have no bird feeder, but I do have a few cashew nuts in the cupboard. Can I participate in society?

Nope, not unless you put them in a net and hang them outside.

I should add the bird feeder was only a requirement for pensioners.

Post subject:  Re: How Cheap Can I Eat?

It's probably best that I do not participate in society, as for me 'participate' is somewhat synonymous with 'cleanse'.

Windowsills and other hanging spots will suffice. Only if you are old, though, it seems.

Then you don't need peanuts at all.

I am disappointed with the misinformation that caused me to go and buy 6 tonnes of peanuts in case I was shunned from society, and which now I do not need...

Hang on, so does he have to make pies out of the birds or the people he kills on his rampage? I'm confused.

Are you allowed to eat roadkill! My grandad lived in Derbyshire and was partial to taking home any fresh looking road kill for my grandma to make into a pie. Rook pie is very good apparently.

Keep them til Christmas and give them to daft old relatives. They'll either eat them
or use them to increase their popularity in the hood. Innit.

He is not allowed to eat anything that is 'free' according to his rules.

He can eat free food as long as he estimates its value and takes that into consideration.
I'm sure he could find some human body part prices on the black market, but they may take him significantly over budget. :o

Mali's sausage caserole:

serves 3:

6 sausages, grill them so they are brown.

In the meantime, chop up and onion and garlic and fry them a bit.

Get a big pot, add fried onion and garlic to pot with a tin of tomatoes, half a pint of chicken stock and maybe some boiled potatoes., and herbs.

Cut sausages up and add to pot.

Place in oven for an our at 180 with a lid on.

Serve with whatever.

Cook it a bit longer and put the sausages in raw. Then all those tasty tasty fats will end up in the sauce instead of in the bottom of the grill pan. Easier to wash up too.

But you won't get the tasty tasty caramelised bits. So in fact, pan fry the sausages, then use the pan and retained fat to fry off the onions.

Further modification, fry the sausages in a griddled skillet pan starting on a very high heat so you get extra caramelised bits without it being overpowering.

Just get a fuck off big pot, I think that's known as a casserole. I guess you could freeze it, don't see why not.

I have just read this thread, and have one concern from a few comments made. CG you seem a little uncertain as to what you can and can't re-heat from frozen. Just make sure anything you do re-heat you heat properly, otherwise you could be saving a lot money by eating hospital food for a few weeks.

Also, I know it was mentioned way back when, but chilli is very cheap, and combined with rice is a good meal. You could get 4 meals for less than £3 this way.

They've just been talking about frozen food on The One Show. They compared the prices of a meal of fish, mashed potato, peas, broad beans and corn on the cob made from fresh and frozen ingredients. The fresh cost £3-odd and the frozen was £1.50.

They also said frozen vegetables can be as good, if not better than fresh. And it's cheaper with less wastage.

Get ye to Iceland.

The One Show? Why that's just a poor mans Six O'Clock Show with that dirty dirty Adrian Chiles.

People outside South East won't have a clue what this show was. It was like the One Show and it gave Danny Baker his big break......

Maybe you should buy some puff pastry next week, CG, then you can indeed make a pie quite easily - if you make your own shortcrust pastry for the base then you'll have enough puff for two pies - you can make sausage and potato pie, a pie with minced beef (or turkey) and onion, with carrot and potato for filler.

It will make Dudley happy.
